I got the magnetic earring, and like i said, it procs VERY little. First time i tested it, i went through 4 mana pools (over 4000 MP) and it didnt proc once (casting high teir spells like protectra/shellra4, regen 3, etc). I assumed it didnt give CMP. Then a WHM from my LS said it procced for them. I tested again, and it proced on the 49th cure 2 i casted. Saved a whole 3mp off cure 2 for a 12.5% return. I think its a shitty earring. I do a lot of wyrms in my LS, i really regret not getting the ethereal.

One thing that i havent tested is if the 12.5% return actually procs everytime conserveMP from black mage sub's trait procs. If it stacks on top of that and procs a 12.5% return everytime the sub jobs' trait procs, it would be a VERY powerful earring. Otherwise, it sucks. (Did that make sense, really didnt know how to word it).
Man, you all missing the point. Screw the proc rate of CMP, get it because it has MP+20. End of story.

Clarifying question: Ethereal converts damage to mp, do you lose that much mp or gain it? I've been reading posts and I can't quite tell which it is.
You get hit for 100 damage, you gain 3MP.

Magnetic earring is boroka and two death earrings rolled into one. Even if you think +Conserve MP sucks (hint: it doesn't), the earring saves inventory space, and that's OK in my book.
Magician's earring: /SMN sub only. Since subbing SMN is retarded for many reasons, that earring's not an option for me.You can get a magicians earring for 1 million gil and get that.

Ethereal's actually pretty good for WHM - the leet ones at least. The ones that actually balance HP+/MP+ and don't just horde all +MP/-HP and get one shotted by random AoEs from Wyrms, dynamis mobs, etc.
It doesn't look too hot when you make comparisons to the damage you receive and what you can cast from that damage... but, look at is this way - It's all FREE mp regardless. You're going to get hit no matter what, so you might as well get some free MP back. The HP+ on the earring is really good too.
I practically sub SMN exclusively. And i never said conserve MP sucked. I said the proc rate on this earring sucks. The effects on ethereal are just too good to pass up in my opinion. +5 attack and +5 evasion is also a unique combo in one item.
