Finally saw the claiming change in action

The claiming change is actually pretty interesting, and everyone was scratching their heads as to what the heck actually happened.

I was on the boat from Al Zhabi to Nashmau when someone fished up an Oberon. I believe they were solo, and were slowly dealing damage to it. At around 60%, it unclaims. I'm not sure why... I don't think the person fighting it died. Now at this point everyone on the boat is trying to claim it. Everyone was hitting it and using provoke and casting spells, etc, but it stayed unclaimed (yes it was losing life). Finally a group (that had more hate than the person initially fighting, I presume) claimed it and killed it.

I wonder what would've happened if it died in an unclaimed state.

Definitely a nice bonus. Prevents stealing of claims when they go yellow, should be pretty useful especially on KB and such.

Given this situation:

1) Alice casts Diaga on a pair of mobs and starts beating on one of them, leaving the other unclaimed.
2) Bob, who is not in the same party as Alice, casts Cure IV on her.

... what happens to the mob that isn't claimed? Obviously Bob would end up tanking it, but would it suddenly turn red to him as well? I somewhat doubt it would since Bob never actually did anything to target that mob specifically, but I'm curious.

A PLD provoked it while it was red and it was like nothing happened.

It should only turn red if he does anything that would claim it I think. If it's just stealing aggro from healing, it won't actually change claim on its own.

so i cast flash, still yellow
cast paralyze and slow, still yellow
i was really confused, casted blind, still yellow

they ended up keeping it claimed somehow (damn you low-enmity flashes) and killed it after they killed the one they meant to pull

claim system is strange to say the least

Yeah, I saw someone try to save a person from a dancing weap in Qufim, they used Dia and it became a dia'd mob chasing after them, unclaimed.

I'll have to agree with you here, aparently death no longer = enmity wipe?

Maybe enmity is only wiped upon raise.

Myself and another PLD were in Boyahda killing crabs for shield skill up. I was solo and he was in a party with a red mage.

We each had a crab and at some point a third crab spawned behind me and started beating on me. The red mage cast sleep on it. It stayed unclaimed. We both continue chipping away at the crab's HP. The crab wakes and runs over to the red mage to smack him around. I voke that crab off of him. Still unclaimed.

We went back and forth with Red mage sleeping and my voking until myself and the other PLD killed off the crab. The other PLD went to claim the other crab... and had to swing at it about 4-5 times and then voke it before it actually was claimed. Very strange.
