What kind of game cases/posters do you like?

Ok, just a quick questionaire (again), based primarily on aesthetics so content of the game doesn't matter as much (I know I would buy MGS3 if the case was made out of shit with shit coated shit on it).

    So, anyway, General:
    - Where do you come from?
(just the region, like US/EU/JP/UAE etc)

    - How old are you?

    - What console(s) do you own?
(from the PS/N64 gen to current)

    - What type of game(s) do you like to play?

    About Game cases:

    - Do you like your cases to be illustrative (graphic) or typographic?
    (can choose both)

    - Complex cases or simple cases with not much on them?
    (middle ground?)

    - Do you prefer the back of the case to be more informative or pretty?
    (can choose both)

    - Do you prefer a vague synopsis or a fairly detailed one?

    - Have you bought a game solely based on the game casing?
    (please say what game)

    About posters:

    - Do you own any posters?
    (please say what one(s))

    - What size posters do you like best?
    (A3, A4, A5 or anything bigger/smaller)

    - Do you prefer graphic posters or ones with less graphics more details?

    - Where do you commonly see any gaming posters?

    - Has seeing a poster for a game ever influenced your choice when buying a game?
    (please say what poster)

Finally, about Point of Sale Displays, I don't expect many people notice these or know what they are but anyway...

    - Have you ever noticed a Point of Sale Display as soon as you walked into a shop?
(do you remember what game it was?)

    - Has a PoSD influenced you while buying a game?

    - Do you prefer subtle PoSDs or PoSDs with more impact?

    - Do you prefer life sized PoSDs or smaller ones dotted around the shop?

Thanks to anyone who answers all of these questions =O

someone's trying to cheese a college assignment :D

I throw away almost all the cases my games/dvds/cds come in. I just keep the little slip of paper with the artwork on it.

Re: What kind of game cases/posters do you like?

    - Where do you come from?
    Europe

    - How old are you?
    21.

    - What console(s) do you own?
PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Gameboy Advance, Playstation 2, GameCube, Xbox, Nintendo DS.

    - What type of game(s) do you like to play?
Uhhhh, RPG's? Only game I regularly play outside of FFXI is Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (Winning Eleven 8)

    About Game cases:

    - Do you like your cases to be illustrative (graphic) or typographic?
Illustrative. The colourful and more abstract, the better!

    - Complex cases or simple cases with not much on them?
What I like can be either, so "middle ground" I guess.

    - Do you prefer the back of the case to be more informative or pretty?
    Pretty.

    - Do you prefer a vague synopsis or a fairly detailed one?
    Vague.

    - Have you bought a game solely based on the game casing?
No, that would be moronic beyond words.

    About posters:

    - Do you own any posters?
I own two posters. One is a Smash Bros. Melee one and the other is a map of Cyrodiil from the Oblivion case.

    - What size posters do you like best?
Size isn't really an issue if it looks good. I guess you're going to need an answer for this though so anything A4 or bigger.

    - Do you prefer graphic posters or ones with less graphics more details?
    Graphic

    - Where do you commonly see any gaming posters?
    Gaming stores?

    - Has seeing a poster for a game ever influenced your choice when buying a game?
No. Same as with buying a game just because of the case, that would be stupid.

Finally, about Point of Sale Displays, I don't expect many people notice these or know what they are but anyway...

    - Have you ever noticed a Point of Sale Display as soon as you walked into a shop?
Yes I have. EA's bribery to stores gets them the biggest POS' which helps to remind me not to purchase any of their games.

    - Has a PoSD influenced you while buying a game?
No, I'm not an idiot when it comes to gaming. POS' are only really effective against your average Joe Gamer who buys every years FIFA installment or clueless parents buying for their children.

    - Do you prefer subtle PoSDs or PoSDs with more impact?
I think they're all stupid, to be honest. If you're gonna bother with a POS give me a gimmick to play with whether it's subtle or not. Zelda POS? Gimme a lifesize Sword and Shield to play with!

    - Do you prefer life sized PoSDs or smaller ones dotted around the shop?
Smaller ones I guess. As I said, as long as they're decent, it isn't an issue for me.

Re: What kind of game cases/posters do you like?

    So, anyway, General:
    - Where do you come from?
Well, erm, technically US (Puerto Rico)

    - How old are you?
    27 as of this morning

    - What console(s) do you own?
Sega, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, N64, Nintendo Gamecube, Playstation, PS2, Xbox, Xbox360

    - What type of game(s) do you like to play?
RPGs mostly, some shooters, some sports

    About Game cases:

    - Do you like your cases to be illustrative (graphic) or typographic?
    Illustrative

    - Complex cases or simple cases with not much on them?
    Suppose middle ground here.

    - Do you prefer the back of the case to be more informative or pretty?
I prefer pretty, I can always get info somewhere else.

    - Do you prefer a vague synopsis or a fairly detailed one?
Does not matter, normally would not buy a game without knowing about it to begin with.

    - Have you bought a game solely based on the game casing?
Nope, as I stated, I won't buy a game without knowing about it ahead of time.

    About posters:

    - Do you own any posters?
No, my son has my old ones now though in his room

    - What size posters do you like best?
Mostly larger ones for walls, depends on room size and decor.

    - Do you prefer graphic posters or ones with less graphics more details?
    The more the merrier.

    - Where do you commonly see any gaming posters?
    Gaming stores.

    - Has seeing a poster for a game ever influenced your choice when buying a game?
No, never, since obviously it will not clue me into what kinda game it would be/story/content, so eye candy is not a factor in what I get or not get.

Finally, about Point of Sale Displays, I don't expect many people notice these or know what they are but anyway...

    - Have you ever noticed a Point of Sale Display as soon as you walked into a shop?
Yes, stores like EB have them, last one I remember was for Tomb Raider (for the latest game)

    - Has a PoSD influenced you while buying a game?
    Nope, see comment for posters.

    - Do you prefer subtle PoSDs or PoSDs with more impact?
Neither affects my decisions, do not care either way.

    - Do you prefer life sized PoSDs or smaller ones dotted around the shop?
Life size can be funny to look at, though smaller ones can suffice.

    Illustrative

    Middle

    - Do you prefer the back of the case to be more informative or pretty?
    (can choose both)

    Pretty!

    - Do you prefer a vague synopsis or a fairly detailed one?
Depends on the game, for RPGs I'd like at least a little glimpse on what the plot is all about, for anything else I don't really care

    - Have you bought a game solely based on the game casing?
    (please say what game)

    No

    About posters:

    US

    - How old are you?
    24

    - What console(s) do you own?
    N64 GC PS2 XBox GBASP

    - What type of game(s) do you like to play?
Driving, FPS, Vertical Shooter, RPG, Golf, and random games like Katamari, Amplitude, Rez

    About Game cases:

    - Do you like your cases to be illustrative (graphic) or typographic?
    Graphic

    - Complex cases or simple cases with not much on them?
Simple is better. An excellent example of a beautiful game case imo is Ikaruga.
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00008 ... e&n=468642

    - Do you prefer the back of the case to be more informative or pretty?
Descriptive of gameplay. This could include images.

    - Do you prefer a vague synopsis or a fairly detailed one?
Plot lead-in is only important for certain types of games (RPG). Games like vertical shooters / FPS, does anyone even care about plot?

    - Have you bought a game solely based on the game casing?
    No.

    About posters:

    - Do you own any posters?
Several anime-themed posters from series I particularly enjoyed. I find game posters generally have crappy visual quality, and ones that come with the game usually have ugly creases from the packaging process.

    - What size posters do you like best?
    No idea about sizing.

    - Do you prefer graphic posters or ones with less graphics more details?
The only gaming posters I actually keep are the build order / stats charts from games like Civilization...so I guess that means informative. But it's more like a visual reference sheet rather than a poster.

    - Where do you commonly see any gaming posters?
I have no idea where to find gaming posters.

    - Has seeing a poster for a game ever influenced your choice when buying a game?
    Nope.

Finally, about Point of Sale Displays, I don't expect many people notice these or know what they are but anyway...

    - Have you ever noticed a Point of Sale Display as soon as you walked into a shop?
    Yes.

    - Has a PoSD influenced you while buying a game?
No, I generally have an idea of what I'm looking to buy before I go to the store.

    - Do you prefer subtle PoSDs or PoSDs with more impact?
I like ones that clearly label what is in the PoSD before I get close, but otherwise out of my way & aren't distracting.

    - Do you prefer life sized PoSDs or smaller ones dotted around the shop?
As long as I can find it if I'm looking for it, it's big enough. If it gets in the way (especially blocking access to a shelf) or takes up too much shelf space it is annoying.

    - Where do you come from?
    Eastern USA

    - How old are you?
    20

    - What console(s) do you own?
NES. SNES, Genesis, PS1, Sega Saturn ("Nights" still kicks ass>_>, N64, Gamecube, xbox, my PC and PS2 atm. Not wasting my money on a 360 when the Wii and PS3 look so mucb better.

    - What type of game(s) do you like to play?
Fighting, Shooters, RPGs, Sports, Car Racing

    About Game cases:

    - Do you like your cases to be illustrative (graphic) or typographic?
I like both. As long as it doesn't hurt my eyes to look at it I usually keep the cover.

    - Complex cases or simple cases with not much on them?
    I can deal with both

    - Do you prefer the back of the case to be more informative or pretty?
Informative with a graphic of the main players. It doesn't have to be pretty...just not let me lose interest (specially if it's a newer game that no one has heard much of yet).

    - Do you prefer a vague synopsis or a fairly detailed one?
Vague worded synopsis with pictures to increase the details hence increase desire to play.

    - Have you bought a game solely based on the game casing?
    Yea, Fable

    About posters:

    - Do you own any posters?
Yea, mostly movie though. I do have one of "Nights" and one of Fable hanging too.

    - What size posters do you like best?
The bigger the better. I usually get the standard movie size posters.

    - Do you prefer graphic posters or ones with less graphics more details?
Graphics on posters prz. I like to see some some of those "beauty areas" that can be found in some games in posters. I don't know about you guys, but I don't buy posters for games that Ihaven't played/really liked.

    - Where do you commonly see any gaming posters?
    Gaming Stores mainly: Gamestop, EB
Never seen any in Walmart, Bestbuy or Circuit city

    - Has seeing a poster for a game ever influenced your choice when buying a game?
Nope, just the other way around.

Finally, about Point of Sale Displays, I don't expect many people notice these or know what they are but anyway...

    - Have you ever noticed a Point of Sale Display as soon as you walked into a shop?
All the time. I try not to put too much into them though.

    - Has a PoSD influenced you while buying a game?
Don't think so. I never buy a game on the spot just from looking at a display...but I might come back a week or two later and get it if I hear good things about it.

    - Do you prefer subtle PoSDs or PoSDs with more impact?
    Subtle.

    - Do you prefer life sized PoSDs or smaller ones dotted around the shop?
I like the lifesize ones if it feature's a hot chick. In Japan they have these lifesize ones that are pretty much naked. They're for Rumble Roses XX.

Re: What kind of game cases/posters do you like?

    General:
    - Where do you come from?
(just the region, like US/EU/JP/UAE etc)

    Australia

    - How old are you?

    21

    - What console(s) do you own?
(from the PS/N64 gen to current)

N64, GBA , GBASP, GC, PS2. Also have all the older nintendo consoles

    - What type of game(s) do you like to play?

Fighting games with a twist, like SSBM, RPG's like final fantasy and pokemon (still love pokemon <3 ), mario series, "weird" games like Rez / Space Channel 5/ Katamari, also love adventure games both big and small, like Zelda and Luigi's mansion.

    About Game cases:

    - Do you like your cases to be illustrative (graphic) or typographic?
    (can choose both)

    Both

    - Complex cases or simple cases with not much on them?
    (middle ground?)

    Both are fine by me

    - Do you prefer the back of the case to be more informative or pretty?
    (can choose both)

    Informative

    - Do you prefer a vague synopsis or a fairly detailed one?

    Vague, but not retardedly clueless

    - Have you bought a game solely based on the game casing?
    (please say what game)

Hell no. I read up on games that I buy, if I havent read a few reviews about it and/or downloaded gameplay footage, I wont buy it.

    About posters:

    - Do you own any posters?
    (please say what one(s))

A few giant ones, one of Kill Bill , one of FFX-2 Yuna holding gun with Rikku/Payne in the background in sillhouettes, and one of Mario Party 3.

    - What size posters do you like best?
    (A3, A4, A5 or anything bigger/smaller)

    Giant wall posters

    - Do you prefer graphic posters or ones with less graphics more details?

I dont think i've seen posters with details on them.

    - Where do you commonly see any gaming posters?

I hardly see them at all out here, If I do get them, they're usually a nice surprise that came with the game, a nice touch of propaganda.

    - Has seeing a poster for a game ever influenced your choice when buying a game?
    (please say what poster)

Nope, because I know what I want to buy before walking into the store. The poster will just make me more excited for the game.

Finally, about Point of Sale Displays, I don't expect many people notice these or know what they are but anyway...

    - Have you ever noticed a Point of Sale Display as soon as you walked into a shop?
(do you remember what game it was?)

    Lots of games.
