    My ps2 brokeded .-.

So today,I got the ps2 version of the expansion from a friend..but apparently
sometime in the last 2 years of never using the dvd tray it got messed up...anyway,the tray wont stay closed. When I insert the disc, the tray just opens back up. Anyone have any ideas? PC is nice, but ps2 is so much more fun to play on

What? A broken PS2? Why.. i've never heard of that problem ever before.

    1) Dont buy Sony products.
    2) Go to a shop that fixed them.
    3) Buy an XBOX360.
    4) Buy a 'new' one.

Well, a PS2 is a machine. If you don't take care of them, they tend to break. Not to mention if yours is old, it just might have finally had its last breath of air, and it's time for a new one.

Why would someone pay 400 dollars for some piece of crap machine when you can spend 100 or so for the BEST CONSOLE EVAR.

    how about this one?

TREAT YOUR DAMN ELECTRONIC DEVICES WITH PROPER CARE!! I've had the PS2 since it came out. I keep it cleaned as I do with my computer and other electronic devices, I keep it away from places it can get damaged (things fall on it or someone accidently stepping on it or tripping on a cord don't happen cause of where I keep it), don't leave it running for hours on end if you aren't using it, that's bad for the disc and the laser (it's the same with an Xbox or a GC... just ask my friend, he fucked up is Xbox like that).

I swear.. most people these days think they can treat their electronic devices like a tonko toy and not be careful with it or where it's put.. :\

oh well, i guess all it takes is cutting half of the shell of my ps2 off with a dremel to make a successful thread.

Take it to your local video game repair shop. It should not cost you more than 20 bux to fix if that.

I have a similar problem. My tray won't stay open for longer than a second.

It's prolly just filled up with dust, alot of dust, open it up(void your warranty) and clean it with q-tip, rubbing alcohol

that's for a DRE. My tray closes, the disc is mechanically set, then put back on the tray and ejected.

DRE? theres gears inside the ps2 that control disc tray, somthing (dust) could be stuck in it
