nah they have to be like 6 months old or something. they usually do it at the same time you get them "fixed" if you choose to do so.

Declawing is akin to cutting the tips of your fingers off where your fingernails grow out of. Of course, you don't see it since their fingers essensially "retract" so they don't look like they've been mutilated like they have been. Many cats that have been declawed develop strange behavioral anomolies, simular ones I would suppose, to a person who's missing the tips of all their fingers might experience. But it also disarms them almost completely, so lots of cats who have been declawed end up biting people more often and using their back claws to rake you as they get more paranoid about their own self defense. Some get damn right mean or violent. Because of this, most countries in the world don't let you legally declaw animals, labelling it "animal abuse", but the USA doesn't have such regulations and so it's still quite popular, though many animal organizations are now trying to discourage people from having it done.

But as for the video, I wish my cat would have stayed that way. It used to be a lot of fun making her run in circles by shining my laser pointer on the floor. Now she's all grown up and fat and lazy. All she does is sleep on the bed.
