I seriously don't understand why the hell they are going to an event thats pretty much gonna be about the world of comics.
Am I missing something? Has SE created comics in the past? What I mean to say is, Why are they going to show FFXI there?

Its the same reason comic booths and booths for movies like start wars and LOTR, that u see at comic con show up at Gen con and Orgins. All of that is popular among similar audiences.
Because gaming nerds read?
I'm not sure how many people on these boards actually GO to Comic-Con, but it is actually a HUGE fucking event in San Diego.
It's not just comics anymore. It's comics, movies, video games, publishing, art, anime, everything...
Last year I went to two discussion panels, the first one was Charize Theron and the cast of Aeon Flux talking about the movie before it was released. The second panel right after was Kevin Smith and his musings and I proceeded to laugh for about an hour.
"Is there a foolproof way to actually break into the movie business?"
"Can you suck dick?"
*guy looks confused*
"Well you have to start somewhere, may as well be on your knees."
So yeah... big deal in SD. I'm going again this year, but my wing(wo)man can't go this year cause she's working that weekend. Sisters are dumb. So I'm going alone. =(
Exactly what she said. Comic-Con San Diego is no longer just comics, it's the movie/toy/gaming industry as well. Square was there last year promoting Advent Children, so they'll most likely be there again this year.Originally Posted by Kytele
It's this huge marketing, industry event now...and it's really just..too big. I almost passed out because of all the people last year and had to go back to my booth and lie down
