    Movment speed+

So im exping bst (33) and a passer by shouts speed hacks!
Me being very anti cheating thought wtf! and asked him about it

After some testing it was clear i was runing faster than him much faster!
So a friend in the same zone tryed to help, i made him put his crimson pants on and i was matching his running speed.

How is this possable on beastmaster?

I remember long long time ago reading on lolki about overclocking your cpu can cause somthing like this and a few people got banned but im not overclocking!

If anyone can tell me whats causing this and how to fix it.... me love you long time coz i really really dun wanna get banned!

    tnx <3

    Have you tried logging off/on?

I believe the way it used to work was something to do with your internal clock. I've read some reports on KI about people experience this and getting banned, but there's two sides to every story I think.

I had that happen to me a long time ago. It turned out to be a corrupt file or something similar. A reinstall removed the issue.

I kinda wanna call you stupid. But i'm not gonna.

    Have had this happen randomly.

If you use windower, it happens more frequently(I forget why exactly).

You can set your clock to a few specific times and force it to happen.

I've heard people getting suspended for it to, its sorta lame when a person can do it without thier knowledge

Yeah I've seen this on my other computer and thought it may be a glitch.

I usually leave gabe on 24/7 so he hardly restarts. One day I noticed it seemed like gabe was moving faster than normal. I Chalked it up to nothing more than maybe video lag.

Well I use the two constantly and I noticed something odd. Whenever Gabe was on follow he was always riding plisks ass. Not so weird if you look at gabes screen but very odd on plisks.

So I switched them around. Had plisk follow gabe. Yup, gabe actually moved fast enough lose plisk on autofollow. No obstacles along the path through rolanberry, just slowly lost plisk.

Gabe had the elevated speed ( It was like the 12% from the aketon) for prolly a few days then my game crashed and his speed was back to normal.

The only thing I could think of was a glitch while zoning while i was in Bastok made it possible. The system and internal clock speed thing might be a case, though I doubt it. It's also happened again ( maybe twice now? ) since then but it's usually nothing I'm worried about since Gabe always /follow Plisk =/

*EDIT* it happens on my second machine and it does not use a windower

You will get banned if they find you walking faster than you should. The circumstances don't matter, you're violating the TOS and must be punished accordingly.

Haha i don't want to say anything ingame cuz it's logged but...

If you are using a windower you might log off, and log on normally to see if it fixes it or at least while you are talking to a GM about the issue.

Cuz while you might not be doing anything worst than using a windower, that's still grounds for a ban.

shit happens to me all the time on my laptop.

is your pc (laptop maybe?) overclocked? or maybe you're changing the speed of your cpu.

for example, on my laptop, i can control which speed i want my cpu to run so it can save battery life. If i do this, it will cause my FPS to go pass the 30fps cap on to like 45-60 and causes my little guy to move faster and perform animations faster.

    I'm pretty sure thats it.

ya... i just had that happen.... wtf i was getting like 60 fps

If you are going to call a GM, which I advise against, you might get lucky and get someone thats a good GM like Senterpi. Had the same problem on my friends account, called a GM, got him, told me to log out and call POL. I didn't do that cause I was hacking, but it was nice to know GMs care.

i posted this a couple months ago on the archbell forums, when someone was having the same problem

Overclocking your "computer" (read: CPU/RAM) or videocard (GPU and/or RAM) does not increase your run speed in FFXI

My ancient athlon xp 2500+ is running at 3200+ speeds (2200mhz), and I have my system ram running at CAS2.5 (default CAS 3), and my character runs at default speed

there's something else wrong with her computer, obviously

to me it sounds like a chipset problem, an actual hardware problem on her end that probably needs to be replaced (maybe the CPU was partially damaged by a power surge, or maybe her PSU is causing the CPU to get too much voltage, or the motherboard may have a physical defect somewhere)

but purposely overclocking your system does not give you any speed enhancements, that's a fact

When my motherboard battery was dead, my PC's clock was running ~5-8% faster than normal. (It took me a while to figure out it was the battery, really annoying) I had the weird slight-run-speed boost too. A few other people I know have had it happen to them on one occasion or another.
