Yeah, I did the 3-day beta. It was only mediocre. Worth trying out once, though.
I played for a month when it came out, ok game. It has a really cool game engine... but I never played the pen and paper D+D. The graphics and characters are designed really well, a lot of different armor too which is cool.
It was like PSO, but didn't have much. I capped out in 8 days at lvl 10 >.>
Worth the free trial though, you'll have a lot of fun.
I heard this was really bad but I guess its worth a shot to try it for a week
Is it better than FFXI? No way. Is it better than WoW? No.I heard this was really bad but I guess its worth a shot to try it for a week
The biggest downfall to this game, and what makes it not worth it is the monthly fee. They should have copied the guild wars business model, and just have mini-transactions for the new modules.
They promise a lot of content, and they have the entire D&D universe to pull from >.> so who knows, it's not worth 14 bucks a month imo, but if they changed some shit around I would go back. They need to raise the level cap though and have elite classes.
EDIT: oh, and the warforged race is ghey as shit... they suck ass and are a pain to party with.
btw, anyone who is playing, tell me. We can get on the same server and progress far in those 7 days.
I'll PM you in 3hrs when mine's done dling >_>aOriginally Posted by BRP

(Yawn)
Its entertaining if you have friends to play with, I did the 3 day beta.
The instanced content is really, really fun. Hell, theres a voiceover in all the dungeons for your senses and shit... play and you see what I mean. Theyre well designed with traps and encounters, and I had a blast going through them with friends.
What sucks is the community. Doing instances with random people suck, because they just want to complete it. I cant tell you the number of times someone blurts out "Ok.. around this corner there is a poison trap, followed by an ambush from behind by 6 kobolds" three seconds before you hear "You feel a sense of imminent danger, something is wrong." from the voice over.
It also looks pretty damn good, and has an interesting EXP system. /rapes width table

Sure, it'll get old, and its definately not worth the monthly fee. But its worth the free download imo.
Definitely looks like fun Gonna download it now. Haven't tried a new game in too long
I played it during the beta.. dunno if it changed much, but it was a alright game. Better than FFXI, but not better than WoW imo.
I played for the Beta, Pre-Release, and 3 months after release, because I'm a geek and I've been playing DND for about 8 years, so when I heard about a MMO for it, I had to have it.
It's a fun game at start, but definantly loses its appeal, as the level cap is 10, and me and my guild were level 10 within in the first week. After 6 months they still have no increased the level cap (I cancelled my Account in May, but I still read up on the game hoping it'll get better and I may go back). The downfall of the game is the repetition, and that once you do a mission, you already know exactly whats going to happen so its the same everytime.
Its a fun game, if I didn't have the montly fee I'd still be paying, but I don't want to pay for something that got old so fast.
EDIT: Needs more Pics.

lol looks like a rip off of wow from the screenshots
And if you looked at EQ screens when WoW came out, you would say WoW looks like a ripoff of EQ.Originally Posted by Anyway
Actually this was made by Turbine, the same company who made Asheron's Call 1 and 2. 1 was awesome, 2 was a failure. 2's interface however was quite good, and WoW stole a lot from it. DDO used a lot of elements from the AC2 interface, since it you know, belongs to them.Originally Posted by Aurin

I must say, those are some ugly ugly character models. Not quite EQ2 ugly, but pretty bad.
Speaking on NW. They had the hands on for NW2 at Gencon. I have to say NW2 looks nice, but ppl had mix reactions to it.Originally Posted by Alleya
Dungeon and Dragons is such a not a MMORPG type of thing, so I'm not surprised its not that great, but I do wish I wasn't alone. Anyway, only a level 2 speaking, the two big faults are lack of community and hard to idenify with the setting. Outside that its a good game at level 2.
Is anyone playing during my 7 days? I would like to have group play.
Except that it looks NOTHING LIKE WoW. Get the fuck outta here.Originally Posted by Anyway
