A friend of mine is looking to buy FFXI and play it on his laptop, but he's not sure if his video card will support it. He has a Mobility Radeon 7500, anyone have any experience with this card and FFXI?

just have him run that..
yes i have an ATI mobility card. it actually runs FFXI and WoW better than the 256MB ATI i had in my desktop. which is sad but cool for my lazy ass.
I have that card in my 5y/o laptop that I use to run FFXI full time on.Originally Posted by Almaa
It works fine, but it's not the best thing out there ofcourse.
god, fuck no. Mobility Radeon 7500 is like, one of the first mobile gpu's to come out for laptops.
Unless your friend is paying $250-300 for that laptop, get something with a little more muscle.
I got my dell D800 with 1gb ram and a GeForce 5650 (128mb ddr dedicated to the card itself) for a $800.
It's an FX, yes, but it's as fast as a 9800pro or so.
wow mine is shared and i paid like a grand. sounds like i got screwed.

Well he already has the laptop, he's had it for a long time, so he's not getting a new computer... he ran the benchmark and score about 2050, somewhere we read that 1500+ score can run FFXI.
Anybody wanna buy a 2-use world pass for us on Bahamut? haha
I have a graphics question, how do I fix this?

Water, Ghrahs, Avatars, Cutscenes are all plagued by missing spots like that for some reason =/
quit ffxi and play silkroadOriginally Posted by Kuponut
either reinstall XI or aska friend for those .dats.Originally Posted by Kuponut
Update your drivers. If that doesnt work, downgrade them.Originally Posted by Kuponut
It's not a .dat issue, It's a graphical issue. On the same installation of XI, switching a 9800 ATI [driver cleaner, ect] and putting in a 5500 nVidia in caused this glitch to occur on my computer. .dat files don't change it.Originally Posted by DnightX
FFXI doesn't like nvidia geforce drivers. When I had one, I had the same graphical issues, and I had to downgrade to 56.something drivers to fix it.
That seems helpful, thank you.Originally Posted by MikedeeFenrir
