Animated Shield

Something interesting I noticed when we mopped the floor with Animated Shield's ass earlier tonight.

I've never paid attention during the other times we fought the Shield, but I know we always get assrammed. Except for tonight, when it went down faster than a high school chick in the varsity team's locker room.

This may or may not have had anything to do with it, but I felt like it was at least worth some consideration.

My attacks seemed to have been doing ridiculous damage after I stole that Phalanx. The damage definitely wasn't normal.

1) Is this Phalanx dispellable without Aura Steal? If so, this definitely needs to be part of the "standard" strategy for fighting him. If not, then it seems like THF is pretty crucial here.

2) Did I just get really lucky with my attacks here procing on the extremely high end of the scale, or could this particular Phalanx be more on the level of like a "Phalanx IV", ridiculously strong?

They dont actually need to give it a higher level version phalanx - just boost its Enhancing Skill beyond oblivion

Your melee hits after that Mercy Stroke weren't that high, so it wasn't the phalanx so much. But in your last picture:
Tamerlane uses Angon.

That's probably why your melee hits went up at that point. And you just landed a monster Mercy Stroke before that.

Angon actually never had a chance to land. He used it, but didn't get to hit it or whatever before the Shield died. I thought of that originally too, and then asked him and he said Angon was wasted lol.

on a somewhat related note, i had a 2hr'd lifedrinker lars with the derek zoolander hat meditate up and ready that i forgot to even engage on the damn shield lol.... tho it was dead before i woulda been able to even hit sic.

I think the 2 Kraken Drk's & 2 Ridill War we had beating on it helped a bit too.

All I know is I totally Flat Bladed that warp before anyone else.

What do you average on those 300% Spirals?

Damn slow delay skill up weapons (I am at 220 scythe)

highest 300% spiral ive seen as bst/thf is... 1970~ I'll have to flip through my screenshots to see what the heck it was i was fighting at the time.

only time i ever really use this combo (aside from fucking around with colibri) is in dynamis where i average between 800-1200
