fiber optics, my ISP has it for consumer use. I'm thinking of upgrading to 50mbit (now i have 35mbish).

Been hearing alot about fiber and curious... Is it provided by a cable company still or is it a "real" internet company, also how is price compared to other options?

Yes, It can be provided by your cable company (like me), depends if they've updated their network to fiber. A lot of big companies upgrade their networks to keep up with the demand (business etc). I pay $60 a month.

No, you don't. You can order cable and not have cable TV etc.

I have a meter in my computer (DU Meter) and i've seen what I can get when I max my connection, the test off by a few.

Now, fucking stupid as in, stupid to have such a fast connection?.. I dunno.. when I'm bored go to imdb.com, look for a movie that catches my interest, connect to my newsgroup server, download it, go get some junk food from the kitchen and unrar it to watch.

I'm really spoiled though LOL. I hate downloading DVD's because they're usually 4.5GB and take me like 8 to 10min to download so I go for the divx/xvid rips that take me under 2minutes...
