Is it possible to leave 1 character at the entrence, or maybe lock onto the NPC and auto run at him to keep him from leaving?
I'd like to do both my characters at once for points, and not be a mooch.

I think there is a minimum level that players need to be to be able to participate in Assaults, I cannot confirm this however as I have not tested this myself yet. You can certainly try though
Minimum 3 ppl, lvl50.
Auto run wouldn't work, if you get too close for too long, the NPC stops. I've tried to think of ways to beat this one with 3 people, and best I could come up with would be 1 person sac pulling the toads and pugils, 1 person sac pulling the crabs, and 1 person running the NPC. The crabs would be simple, but I would think not losing hate on the toads and pugils while staying alive might be tricky.
So maybe you could dual box the person running the NPC and moving the crabs out of the way. And let the other person handle the rest.
write a bot to do it >.>Originally Posted by Judah
I beat this with WAR/NIN, NIN/WAR and BRD/WHM. It wasn't too difficult, but it really helped a lot that the NPC skipped over a toad and some fish. Two boxing would make it a much more difficult task.
Sorry if anyone else also came up with this strategy and it's been discussed already, but the easiest way to do it with 3 people is this:

BRDs work best since songs can't be interrupted when stuff attacks you and sometimes you'll have as many as 4 things on you while you pull them out of the NPC's path to sleep them (east pugil path + doomed). Stuff in this assault loses hate on you after about 20 seconds of running from it. If everything goes well, it only takes 10 minutes to win this Assault with no fighting.
wow finally i get to start working for my yigit body. No one on my LS likes this 1. But with this strat, lol. Us brds can work for it ourselves, lol. thankyou
You need 3 people, but you can make the 3rd DC or /pcmd leave while entering assault and you get the points for 2 or 1
sup building bridges...Originally Posted by chibbs
question about NPC. How do we get the crabs to the other room w/o the NPC seeing them? I tried this with that 2brd method. and our war stopped the NPC. but he still freaked when i pulled crabs to other room.
Ya fuck this one, building bridges can be done in 10-15 minutes with zero risk.
Got my Gomlek a few days ago, 2 more runs and my static is done with the zone.
Meh, we just do Requiem with 4 people, only 900 points but we only need 3-4 more runs til we are done with it forever.
I've done the NPC one a few times and hes frickin stupid or whoever is controlling it doesn't know how, no thanks. ~_~
The NPC is kinda hard to control but I've gotten decent at it just from helping so many people rank up and since I'm the WHM I'm always the one who gets stuck with the NPC.
It seems that the prisoner always has 1 person who he decides is "his escort". If that person gets close enough to him for a few steps, he will stop. Once he's stopped, he won't move again until everyone backs away. The last person to move away from him becomes his new escort. I haven't figured out exactly how the designated escort is determined in a group, so it's best to have 1 person near him and everyone else stay the hell away. If you do that, his behavior becomes a lot more consistent.
When you first start, I think the first person to approach him becomes the default escort. That person should stop him and let the rest of the party get ahead. Once everyone is a safe distance away (15+ for those with distance plugin or FFAssist), go ahead and resume walking. If for some reason you need to switch escorts, have the current escort stop him, and the new escort approach. Then old escort leaves the two alone, and the new escort becomes the current escort.
It's kind of a pain and I haven't found a sure-fire way to stop him. Just stand on his heels for a few steps and it usually works. For those with distance plugin, if he's been stopped for a good 3 seconds or so at least, then he won't start moving again until everyone is 10.0+ away from him. Somewhere in the neighborhood of ~15.0 he will run, so don't let him get too far away.
