no Tom Bombadill that bugged me. They better not do any such nonsense for the Hobbit.
The Simarillion would be super-awesome as a movie; might be hard to do though. It is defintely my favorite part of Tolkien's work.

So there's going to be no 007 in 2007? I think they missed a HUGE marketing ploy there. They could have released it on some random month 22/007, imagine that. They should just delay this one until 07/007. Infact, they should just remake it without Daniel Craig thank you very much. I like the guy but he's no Bond...Originally Posted by Lbelle
IMO: if anyone but Jackson does the Hobbit, they will probably butcher it cause i cant think of anyone better than Jackson to do the Hobbit, even though Jackson left out some of the best parts in the books but that was to be expected or each movie would have be like 6 hours long... nothnx

Yea that new actor playing Bond looks like a tool, I thought Brosnan was perfect for him. Did anyone else see The Matador last year? He was good in that.
Sean Connery prz.
I thought he was good in it, but the movie itself wasn't as good as I hoped it might be. Brosnan made a good Bond, I don't think he was getting too old for the part like they said. And Daniel Craig is blonde! Bond's are never blonde! Ugh. And they've signed him up for the next one too...Originally Posted by Po

Also, Tom Bombadil was a pimp, but totally uneccessary in the movies.

Connery was the best bond imo. I was reading in my local newspaper something about the new bond movie. Apperently I guess the official James bond club or whatever is gonna be trying to boycott it.. its true, the new "bond" does look like a tool...
He served no purpose for the movie. They took out anything that did not contribute to the overall story.Originally Posted by manako
Not saying they should have included Bombadil, but Jackson could have done a whole lot better with patching up the gaping holes created by omitting the Barrow Downs scene. So Pippin stabs the Witch King in the calf with... a normal dagger and it hurts him? 0.o wtf. Tolkien had them equipped with blades from Westernesse, which explains why the blades the hobbits wielded had powers normal blades didn't posses. The Witch King wasn't prone to injury by normal blades or even men armed with spectacularly magical blades, which is why Pippin's blade was able to stab the king's nether-worldly flesh, and Aeowyn was able to cut off his head.Originally Posted by Po
Kinda leaves the audience wondering why the hell an army of hobbits didn't just take up any old sword and hack away at the Nazgul. I'd prefer they'd added something about them obtaining those blades rather than, say, add something pointless like Lurtz. -.-
Good point.
Jackson just said that Aragorn gave them the Swords right?
It wasn't a normal dagger. If you watched the extended LOTR Galadriel ended up giving Merry and Pippin special daggers, which is what Pippin used to stab the Witch King with.
Hmm, guess I'll have to watch the extended version sometime.
If you're interested in the series, and the movies, the Extended editions are REALLY worth watching. They bring an extra layer of depth to the movies, and they help to explain progression better, while adding other interesting and entertaining scenes. They make the already brilliant movies even better. I can watch the unextended versions, but watching them extended is much, much, much better.
I hope in 5-10 years when the anniversary editions come out there are even more extended editions, because I bet they'd be even more sick. But I'm one of those chicks that can't get enough of it.
Yeah, the extended versions of LOTR are fuggin sweet. I remember buying them when they came out, and relaxed the whole damn weekend watching em.
Update!!!
The Hobbit Petition Garners Reaction
Fans one step closer to making a Jackson-directed feature happen.

October 9, 2006 - When it comes to Hollywood, it looks like the squeaky wheel does indeed get the grease. Case in point: Close to 40,000 fans of J.R.R. Tolkein's The Hobbit are one step closer to seeing Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson helm a big screen adaptation for MGM and New Line Cinema.
As reported on TheOneRing.net, a petition to have Jackson and the effects wizards at Weta Workshop tackle The Hobbit — whose film rights are dizzyingly split between MGM and New Line — received 39,116 signatures and was delivered to both studios on Sept. 22. In an unprecedented move, Rick Sands — COO of MGM — actually took time out of his schedule to respond to the fan outcry. Here's what he had to say:
"Peter Jackson's phenomenal success with The Lord of the Rings trilogy makes him the first and most ideal choice for directing The Hobbit. MGM would be thrilled to collaborate with the Academy Award-winning director on this MGM New Line Cinema production. And, I'm sure to the delight of the 50,000 filmgoers who have petitioned us in recent weeks, demanding we bring this film to fruition, we have had a few initial conversations about the project with Mr. Jackson's representatives."
woo hoo!
