    Ikaruga is for pussies.

Imperishable Night. Possibly the most insane shooter I have ever seen. That's an example of the final stage of the game on Insane. I've been playing this for the past couple days - it's a blast, but it's seriously kicking my ass. It's a freeware game, grab it here:

    http://indygamer.blogspot.com/2005/0...ble-night.html

This thing has instructions on how to find it in the site - there's a tutorial if you google "Imperishable Night". Not much, but it'll help you out a little.

The download is located under the header:
    04/07/07 東方永夜抄 体験版ver0.03 フルパッケージ(19.0MB)
Or, if you want a link to the download directly, http://mirror0.fuzzy2.com/zun/eiya_tr003.lzh

There is a pattern for everyboss on all settings.... its "diffcult" in the sense you just need to learn it.

Cept the hardest setting.. I think.. watched friend finished it on the second to most difficult setting.

Fuck if I could beat it though hah

Its not a freeware game either, its a Dojin(doujin?) game.

Must take weeks to learn this stage. Music was kinda nice, at least for a couple of minute. I'm not sure I would still like it by the time I beat the stage

eh just watched that video. kinda cool and i will be playing this now, thanks for the link .

As far harder then Ikaruga? Sorry not imo. 90% of that vid right there seems to be feather bullet dodging. A lot of memorization and staying on the backside of the board =/

You could argue which one is harder but I have to hand it to the skills of some of those Ikaruga players.

Chapter 4 "reality" all the way to the last on hard (where both black and white ships return bullets no matter your color) while geting a S+ is just sick.

One of my personal favs though:

Blows everything Ive ever seen out of the water when it comes to shooters. Last level, playing 2 player on the stand up arcade machine, by himself.....

its just hours and hours poured into memorization

Think about if you were to convert ur MMO hours into 5 levels of a shooter, just to memorize it

Sorry, but the game mentioned by the OP isn't anywhere even close to Ikaruga...all you are doing is dodging some simple repetetive bullet patterns.
Max chains on Ikaruga for S+ rank, and you'll see why this game has absolutely nothing on it.

If you're looking for another kickass Shmup aside from Ikaruga, try Radiant Silvergun. Awesome stuff.

That double play on chapter 4 was nuts. >.>; No way I'd be able to do that. My mind just can't keep up. T_T Something tells me I'd be a sucky mobile suit pilot.

touhou is fun, but ultimately it's a pretty standard bullet dogder/grazer

I'd rather play IaMP (Immaterial and Missing Power)

Oops, I meant Imperishable night is fun

Seriously, what Tekki said. Although if it's anything like the original Tsukihime, it won't be available easialy, especially not outside Japan. Also, I just played through Rekka for the NES in about an hour. It was easy thanks to state saves. Does that make me a cheater?

You can buy it from some japanese websites, unless someone has an ISO someplace you can get. In short, unless you order it I doubt you'll get it, I've been looking for IaMP for months and I can't find it =(

Closest I found was this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Imperishable-Night- ... dZViewItem

I might go ahead and pick this up now if A: I can play this on my PC (I dont know a lot about JP games and US PCs and their compatiability) and B: I can make an ISO for ya guys =D
