Latent effect: loldrktank
Edit: but honestly I have no idea
another mystery ...
I can only guess that the latent is wearing Ace's Helm at the same time.
I cant imagen that would be it, as they are in different expansion packs. Doesnt SE always try to keep the content of each expansion seprate, so you dont have to have one to play another?Originally Posted by inafume
Sounds Corsairy to me. Why not try MNK roll?
Could be HP based, like most latents. In comparison, there are relatively few latents based off things like songs/rolls/subjobs/other equipment worn/etc.
At least it would be easy to test, if anybody has one, since DRK/DRG/SAM don't normally have counter. I secretly hope it's a bad latent because counter is awesome and I don't want other non-mnk jobs to get it too easily

Is saying that Monk roll might activate it. In that case, it might be any roll or song, which act the same.Originally Posted by Antixzero
Red HP, Kioko on Ifrit has it, thats what she tells me.
I'm 99% sure the latent is red HP. Counter only procured when HP was red regardless of support job, with no other counter+ gear. Very disappointing, don't buy it.
Red HP stuff fucking fails. Maybe I'll code it into my "shitty latent" gear change bot though.Originally Posted by tornfleshofsoul
Red HP stuff would be pretty awesome if it actually made a difference. e.g. if, instead of Counter+5, it gave you a counter rate higher than a MNK with full Counter gear using Counterstance, then it would be great.
You wouldn't purposely get into red so you can counter tank, but if you were soloing, or were getting your ass handed to you and couldn't easily be saved at the moment (e.g. souleater kraken), it'd be useful to use.
If red HP latent gear actually did something reliable, it might even be worth having a few latent pieces to macro in as part of an "Oh shit" macro.
There are a few red HP latent gears that are somewhat useful as-is, just based on the fact that they work when an attack takes you into the red, not just after you're already there. A RDM latent -30% magic damage earring, for example, would be good protection against being one-shotted. For the times it doesn't work, you weren't in danger anyway and didn't need it. When it does kick in, you might have been one-shotted otherwise. Good to use if you are the target of a Citadel Buster, or when fighting SMN mobs with strong Astral Flows, etc.
