Why do you have to precision pull when you have 63 BLMs to blow everything up in seconds? lol :POriginally Posted by Lordwafik
It seemed like it was fixed for me last night Wafik, are you sure you are still having issues?

450~ is normal for me, (probably why i've never claimed a thing in my life, lol). It all looks good on my end. I have not logged in yet, but I'm confident not seeing 1600+ means it's back to normal.
Anyone from EU still having problems? Starting today I'm getting constant R0s for around a minute, then a few seconds when I can actually see whats going on.
I had this again last night. I would stay connected for about 1-2 mins, then red dot, but could still talk to people and see what was going on, then eventualy just DC. Tried logging in and out about 10+ times, in the end I gave up and went to bed. lol...
Havn't had any problems till today. Logged on this morning and everything was fine. I started looking through bazaars in rolanberry and then I zoned to Jeuno to check the AH...everything going ok then after a few minutes hell broke loose. I was r0 constatly for 5 mins but never got DCd, eventually I just walked back to rolanberry and it was fine again. Stayed in Rolanberry for 30 mins and tried going back to Jeuno and got same r0s again.Originally Posted by fumbletweed
Ok this is driving me totaly insain now. I couldn't get online at all last night as I would only stay connected for 2mins and then red-dot but with send and receive still showing normal numbers.
I thought maybe it was just a glitch, but the next day (today) I'm still having the exact same problems. Doing a full file check at the mo to see if that will help.
Been getting the same thing a few weeks now. I will all of a sudden get r0s and then dc. I let it kick me back to character select screen then I will log in again and it will r0 and dc me again. Then I log in again (after 2 ds) and my connection is fine for a long time. People watching me dc say i never red dot. Funny thing is it always works like this after 2 dc i get back on and im fine. Its happening on both pc and ps2 versions. I just don't get it and its really annoying... I am staying connected to the internet the entire time as well.
Hmmm i always thought was my BT connection being shite lately the above (the reconnect > DC) is exactly what was happening to me before my 3 week holiday. has only happened once since i got back last week though.
Happening to me as well. Sometimes, I'll get the red dot for 5min straight, but still able to talk, walk, zone, whatever. Then I will eventually disconnect.Originally Posted by Moochi
Another thing, is when I stay logged on POL, I'll get disconnected every now and then, saying my connection ran out.
Been happening like this since 2, 3 days.
My connection (UK based) has been awful since the last update, log in to a red dot, Whitegate is unbareable at the moment.
As for NM pops, well I see them yellow for a good few seconds but they are already claimed apparently, only thing I can put this down to is lag, everyone EU based in my LS is having the same problem.
My connection in Canada has been awful since Sunday afternoon as well.

I have a massive lag when doing any action right now. The game is just about unplayable. I just tested my connection and it's running at a nice 4mbps, which is actually better than usual so something is messed up over in Japan I think.
Hmm it's suddenly better now. Got fixed about 15 minutes after I posted that. Odd.

Ok, so my connection is still fucked. I can't stay connected for more than 2mins afterwhich I just DC. This has been happening since Mon 16th. I spoke to SEL Agent Gurinder about my connection probelms, this is what he said:
(wasn't very helpful and I very much doubt it will make any difference to my problems.)
You have been connected to SEL Agent Gurinder.
spooky: Hi
SEL Agent Gurinder: Hello, How may I help you today spooky?
spooky: Over the past few days I have been having connection problems when playing FFXI.
spooky: Any other internet service works fine.
SEL Agent Gurinder: What exactly problems do you get, which error message do you get?
spooky: However I can only connect to game for 2mins at a time, and then I DC.
spooky: Error code: FFXI-4002
Time out reported by the FFXI server. Press OK to shut down.
Error code: POL-0250
No responser from server. Please try again or check networing devies such as cables and router or network settings.
spooky: I get those 2 errors.
spooky: I'm at work now, but I have run the connection test and recorded the results.
spooky: I can also give you my home IP adress.
SEL Agent Gurinder: One second, let me check the error messages
spooky: ok
SEL Agent Gurinder: And when exactly did the error messages appear?
spooky: The problem seems to be my upload, as whlie I am DCing I can still see Linkshell chat, but they can not see what i type.
spooky: I get it everytime i play the game, and have been for quite some time now.
spooky: I litraly try reconnected 10 - 20 times, and get the same problem over and over.
SEL Agent Gurinder: You can play, but after few minutes you receive the message?
spooky: yes around 1-2mins, every time.
SEL Agent Gurinder: What ISP are you using, what firewall/router or aniti-virus software/hardware are you using
spooky: I'm with tiscali, I'm using a standard modem/router, no firewall, no anti-virus, dell latitude D520 laptop
spooky: I have not done or changed anything to my setup, and have been playing fine for many months.
SEL Agent Gurinder: And since when do you have this problem ?
spooky: It is only very recently that these problems have started ocuring.
spooky: I would say abuot a week now/
SEL Agent Gurinder: Did you change anything or did tiscali had a update ?
spooky: no
spooky: I have read on internet forums, that a number of peopel have been having this problem for quite some time too.
SEL Agent Gurinder: Well either it's because there some maintenance running at the moment, until 7pm today
spooky: When did the maint begin?
SEL Agent Gurinder: Or you have to open the necessary ports on your router
SEL Agent Gurinder: I think yesterday in the morning
spooky: The problem has been going on alot longer than that.
SEL Agent Gurinder: Alright then try to open the ports which I will gave you in few seconds, check your network settings. Check if the cable etc are working properly
SEL Agent Gurinder: Port Numbers Used By Final Fantasy XI, and PlayOnline server groups:
Windows
- TCP 25, 80, 110, 443 and 50000 - 65535
- UDP 50000 – 65535
spooky: The problem I have is ONLY limited to FFXI, for example I can stream internet radio and use voice over IP services without inturuption even while i am disconecting from FFXI
SEL Agent Gurinder: Yes, for FFXI you need to open those ports, I gave you.
spooky: Right but, network settings / cables are not going to be a problem if every other serive on the internet works just fine.
spooky: do you want me to send you these test results ?
SEL Agent Gurinder: Try to open those ports. If it's still does not work try to bypass your router and connect directly to the Internet.
spooky: My modem can act as a router if i connect it to a switch, but currenty I connect directly to it.
SEL Agent Gurinder: If this does not work, call us back when you are at home where you can check if ping works fine
spooky: ok
SEL Agent Gurinder: And disable the software firewall or antitrust if you've got some
spooky: ok I will try and let you know what happens. thanks very much for your help.
SEL Agent Gurinder: You are welcome. Just come back if this does not work.
spooky: ok, will do
SEL Agent Gurinder: And
SEL Agent Gurinder: There shouldn't be running any program in the background like: msn, yahoo etc
spooky: Why would I run programs like that when you are unable to alt-tab away from the game without causing the application to close?
SEL Agent Gurinder: This was just for your information to close applications in the background, which could cause these problems.
spooky: I see. Ok thank you.
SEL Agent Gurinder: You are welcome.
SEL Agent Gurinder: Is there anything else I can help you with today spooky?
spooky: Nope
SEL Agent Gurinder: Ok then, Have a nice day
spooky: see ya

Ok so I'm back from work now, tried all the things he surgested, still have the same problem. /wrists
Luckily I'm working form home tommorow so I can spend the whole day chatting to tech support to try and get this fixed.
Anyone got any surgestions?
I have had the exact same problem the last 2 months. I am currently working in Shanghai and have dsl internet at my apartment. All of my internet applications work fine (even some other mmo games) but I would get the same problems when logging on ffxi.Originally Posted by spooky
Took me forever to get on, and when I was able to get in game, it was only a matter of time before I was booted and given the same error messages you are receiving. I contacted tech support and they gave me the same info about the port issue. Checked with my internet company and they said there are no blocked ports. (I also checked all of the anti-virus, firewall details etc.)
Since the POL update a few weeks ago, I have not been able to download the patch and log on at all (after a week of trying), so I finally just gave up and uninstalled ffxi to free up some room on my laptop for the remainder of my stay in China.
If you are able to figure out how to get around this issue for your connection, please let me know. m(_ _)m
A small aside question: What are the IP/domains for the FFXI servers? Will doing a Ping or Tracert to http://www.pol.com or http://www.playonline.com get us enough data to analyze our connections to the servers to is there a more specific listing somewhere?
