    Endgame BST

I'm looking to pimp my BST and try to max it out for merit parties & HNM events. Now recently, I have been reading that BST/WAR with a suitable DD pet(Funguar I'm guessing) can outparse /nin? Can any BST elaborate on that? I imagine Maneater/Temp axe blows it away. I must've been reading the zam boards or something...

Anyway how do you fare against the rest of the DDs in merit parties? (Lordwafik, Aelfinn, Keftenk, etc.)

Btw, my BST is 75. as for DD equip atm I have...

    TP Set
    Main - Maneater
    Sub - Temperance Axe
    Head - Wal. Turban
    Neck - Chiv. Chain
    L. Ear - Brutal Earring
    R. Ear - Beastly Earring
    Body - Hauberk
    Hands - Thick
    L. Ring - Rajas Ring
    R. Ring - Jaeger
    Back - Forager's Mantle
    Waist - Swift Belt
    Legs - Byakko's Haidate
    Feet - Ogre Ledelsens

I've got some BC & KSNM to do.

    *Edited TP Set*

I dunno too much about bst, but the first 3 things I"d go for, in this order, are Maneater, Dusk Gloves, and Dusk boots

oh and obviously get a berk and a potent belt

    Thanks.

Atm, I can afford a 'berk & Maneater. As for dusk items, I'm going to have to put my sea of seals to good use and hopefully get lucky with drops. (I'm currently holding 620 BS & nearing 500 KS) Sorry about not showing screenshots I play on PS2.

I can't wait to complete my DD set for I've been looking to try something new for quite sometime.

What can I do. Until I get the money to afford Potent Belt or have a swift belt drop, I've no choice.

If only my bst could equip my Black Belt. lol that belt spoils you.

    *Edit*
Yeah, I'll get a life belt for now (durrrr) It's been a long time. After playing mnk for over 2 years, life belt almsot doesn't exist in the mind

Hmm I don't really merit on my BST, I have not even taken it out recently aside from farming EPs.

    Main - Nothing
    Sub - Temperance Axe
    Head - Wal. Turban
    Neck - Chiv. Chain
    L. Ear - Brutal Earring
    R. Ear - Beastly Earring
    Body - Nothing
    Hands - Nothing
    L. Ring - Rajas Ring
    R. Ring - Ruby Ring
    Back - Forager's Mantle
    Waist - Warwolf Belt
    Legs - Byakko's Haidate
    Feet - Nothing
What equip is this? TP? Rampage ? I hope you're not doing "1 set fits all" :\ What food are you using/planning to use, what mobs are you fighting? etc etc.

My sets mirror my thief exactly, except obvious slots which my bst cant wear. Feet I use Thick feet for TP'ing (no adaman), hands I use adaman mufflers.

When I /nin I use Temperance in offhand and a ton of virtue stones, when I /war i'll just my strong axe.

    You need sets imo.

    ACC set

WS set (mostly STR add ACC till you are just hitting all 5 swings.)

    Eat meat.

Ah yes, I should have elaborated on that 1st. That up there is basicaly my TP set for now. This will be my 1st time in about a year playing BST again. As for WS gear, I'll be working on that slowly with my LS (Hecatomb etc.)

gawd.. keeping Keftenk alive was hard when he subbed /war. We were only playing around so one of the other wars wasnt really voking that much but if you hasted him when he had berserk up his health would drop by about 600. He was just seeing what he was capable of rather than serious exping. Id leave him out of the haste loop for a while (seeing as he didnt need it for shadow recasts as /war because he was a mp sponge)

Without a pet he was still kicking ass in the parsers though we didnt have an ideal DD burn pty set up.

If you sub war your a sponge, but you can build like a war, however you do need a bit more acc gear.

If you sub nin you need go figure out if you are going to have a bard around a lot or not. If you have a bard around for most of your exp PT's/HNM in melee pt then a sushi/haste build will do quite well, it also is the best build for bst, well at least a bst with guttler. If you don't usually have a bard, then meat + acc build would work better.

One thing to note though, is that a viable acc build is more expensive initially than a haste/sushi build. However, to cap out sushi build you would need a fair amount of gil, while capping out acc/meat build requires a fair bit less gil.

If you sub nin though, maneater/temp are the best two axes you can use as bst for exp pt.

Uhh~~ well, depending on what mobs you fight..

In ToAU, you can do all dmg gear, but youll have to eat sushi. If you want to eat meat, youll have to find that sweet spot with mixing in some acc gear.

Outside of ToAU you will be wanting to go full acc. Ive gone full acc gear and sushi and still miss a lot.

I do more dmg when im /war (only in toau), but if you have a temp axe you should be going /nin. man/temp is the way to go.

As far as pets.. funguar and carrie are the cheapest.. unless you wanna spend 500kish an hour or so, those two are you options. Ive yet to determine which of those two are stonger. Carries attacks tend to do a bit more dmg, but her tp moves are shit. funguar hits almost as well, and does good tp moves (when they hit). so youll just have to play with it. Use AF2 hands.

Also, since rampage is acc/str based, switching to all str gear while eating meat might be a bad idea. I use to miss 2~3 hits before I found a sweet spot.

Ogre Feet +1 with 12 attack are nothing to scoff at either if you can't afford Dusk Feet.

here's my equip builds for bst.... ( and other jobs.)

    http://aelfinnwtf.livejournal.com/2006/09/29/

your charm build will be chr gear + AF/AF2 whatever you have.

tp build should look like a warrior's haste/acc setup
ws ... looks like a warriors ws build
all in all.... your gear is gonna look an awful lot like a warrior's gear

pump in some axe merits and you're able to drop some accuracy gear for haste and eventually be able to eat meat and still hit mobs
For the love of god, if you are planning on joining meripo pts get Beast Affinity 3/3 and use fungus pets... they are cheap as fuck and @ lvl71 (73 if you have monster gloves....) they will outdamage all the jugs aside from lars. If you can afford to drop 90-100k every 15mins.. then use lars lol..

as for how do I stand up in a pt, well in mamook/thickets with sushi I was holding my ground against nins and wars that were geared/merited similar to me, what you lack due to JA's compared to warriors... a fully merited fungus will make up for.

    Feet: Adaman Solleretes

    WS-SET (Rampage)

If you cant afford Dusk gear, definitely go with some cheaper alternatives such as Ogre ledelsens+1 (for the +12 attack), Tarasque mitts +1 (same) and what not. I dont use the Adaman gear since I have capped axe merits and would rather use +attack in those slots.

I wouldnt get a potent belt honestly, but thats just my opinion. Life belt is better to TP in, and for rampage (assuming you have a seperate setup for it), I'd use warwolf. Again, if you're hurting for acc, then by all means use a potent belt for WS, if not, then warwolf is gold.

    Feet - Hecatomb Leggings +1

If accuracy is an issue during WS, I leave the PCC on, or just leave one of the rings on. As for pets, I just am never happy with Carrie and I haven't put merits into Affinity yet, so Funguar isn't really an option. Usually use PanzherGhalad with AF2 gloves.

As for stacking up against other melees like WARs, you yourself will be lower, and many of them will be quick to point this out. However, by adding you and your pet you will be fairly close. They will say it doesn't count, but by not counting the pet you're taking away about half of your job. The last time I went as BST (usually get dragged as RDM ), set-up was WAR/WAR/BST/RDM/BRD/BRD. Damage ratios was along the lines of 34/33/32 ( 24 + 8 for pet).

    TP-
    Main: Woody
    Sub: Temperance
    Head: Turban
    Neck: PCC
    Ears: Beastly/Brutal
    Body: Osode
    Hands: Thick
    Rings: Rajas/Flame
    Back: Forager
    Waist: Swift Belt
    Legs: Byakko Haidate
    Feet: Adaman

    WS-
    Main: Woody
    Sub: Temperance
    Head: Wyvern
    Neck: Soil Gorget
    Ears: Beastly/Brutal
    Body: Heca
    Hands: Heca
    Rings: Flame/Rajas
    Back: Forager
    Waist: Warwolf
    Legs: AF+1
    Feet: Heca

Only upgrades I have planned are Dusk Hands/feet for TP, haub of some kind for TP, Temp Torque for TP, mebbe some Acc rings so i can use meat, and changing from Woody-->Maneater.

I am the laziest gear upgrader ever, but hope to have all that crap done before X-mas. Gogo KS runs and boatloads of Kaginawa.

  19. #19

I don't take BST to events, unless its crowd control (which is rare). So my gear reflects what I use to xp or merit PT (again rare)

    TP Set
    Main - Woodsville/Jugg
    Sub - Juggernaut/Tatami
Head - Use O.Hat but just got Wal. Turban
    Neck - Chiv
    L. Ear - Mineut earring (gimpy but best thing I can get non-r/e I think)
    R. Ear - Assault Earring
    Body - Hauberk
    Hands - Brave's Wristbands (+5acc I think off hand)
    L. Ring - Flame (axe merits and sushi negate some of the Acc problmes)
    R. Ring - Flame
    Back - Amemit +1
    Waist - Life Belt
Legs - Bison Legs (They look hawt and -2Emnity solo )
Feet - Marine M Boots (currently on AH for down grade )

    Rampage Gear Change

    Head - Wyvern Helm
    Hands - Ogre Gloves +1
    Waist - Warwolf Belt

Last Merit PT on BST I probably did approximately the damage a kind of gimped war with no merits would have done.

I wanna test my crap out if anyone on asura is willing to inv my BST to a real merit party (that includes a bard and a rdm, not 3 drg who bond together because nobody else can inv them).
