FFXI File Check

Well, after the other day's POL update, my FFXI had started actin really strange, crashing and what not. And Windows was tryin to do an some kinda configuration update to FFXI. I thought it was my wtf3rdpartywindower, but when I ran FFXI normally, it would crash too! So, like my friend had suggested, I ran a file check, and like 252 files were corrupted! So, here I am, at the file repair screen....And nothing is happening. The FINAL FANTASY XI Windows configuration window came back and now its "Gathering required information...". Its been doing so for well over an hour now. And it keeps restarting. The bad files were in the 22,23, and 45 folder. My question is to anyone who has went thru this, do I just wait, or should I try to do something to the .dats myself? Help prz! I wanna XP SAM

I got 20 files corrupted here, and tried the repair. I still got pol error after =|(may be full re-install needed). The repair only updated 3 of my dat and one of them was the farahim icon lol. Disabling sound may help but it will still give me pol error(once i lag the ffxi freeze for 1-2s and pol crashed).

PS: I tried chkdsk too still no luck.

Reinstalling FFXI atm.

If you know what folders/dats are bad, simply replace them from the CD or get someone to send them to you.

If it doesnt work, reinstall.

Im convinced FFXI in itself is a virus. This program has caused nothing but chaos on my PC since I first installed it.

FFXI is just like a woman. You hate and love it at the same time. And Lord
knows you can't live w/o em.

I had that problem last week with my comp. was pissing me the hell off, until I just did a fresh install, all done.

If you pray to Yin, It will definatly work you know :wink:

Reinstall FFXI! Problem solved.

Yin is just another name for L. Ron Hubbard.

I had the same issue, tho I was able to log into the game... In certain zones, while the game tried to load certain DATs it would simply crash. And while my toon remained in that area, I could log in, but only for about 3 seconds before it would try to load that corrupt files. My solution was to update my other comp and then copy all the dat files over my network from the good install and overwrite the corrupt one. But you might not have that kinda setup available. If you know which dats are bad, you can have a friend send them to you. Or reinstall the whole game, but I refuse to.

I had corrupted files a while back, repair said they installed and fixed it, but it didnt fix anything. But since they give you the exact file location for the corrupted files, I just had a friend of mine grab those dats from his PC and send me then over aim. Then I just manually copied them to the right folders, worked like a charm.

Thanks all for your input. I have a backup copy of FFXI stored on one of my HDDs and I was successfully able to replace the bad files! I love you all! Thanks!
