FFXI Crashes

Has anyone been noticing the game crashing a lot more often since the recent windows POL update? I've been seeing crashes on shutdown, as well as a full crash shortly after besieged ended (game freezes for a few seconds, then boom...)

This has been happening to me for a few months also, primarily the crashes on shutdown and /shutdown not behaving properly.

I assumed FFXI is just in need of a reinstall that I have not performed in 2 years, when I reformatted my PC last I just copied the entire Playonline folder up to my server, reinstalled Windows, and then copied it back after doing a basic install of FFXI instead of doing a full reinstall.

In conclusion, I'm too lazy to fix it. Oh, and no windower used on that computer.

This isn't a bug, it's a feature of besieged.

I haven't had any sudden dropouts for weeks, but I'm on ps2. The problem with shutdown was mentioned in another thread but I don't think anybody figured it out. I have had something where shutdown just does a regular log instead of a full shutdown.

Mines been not loading on pol when i try to exit, I've just been hitting the X button D=

Are you using branson's menu dats? If so you'll have to revert back. Due to the change in icons for the chime notifications, you'll crash every time you enter in there.

I changed the .dat files back and it still crashed, plus it crashes on the battle effects window too. Had a really laggy dynamis cuz of that.

hmm, .9 crashed every time i went in after i set the notification to chime when i receive a tell, and hasn't crashed since i reverted back to the default ones. i'll try .10 and see if it works.

Same story here, although not always, but most of the time I have exit by closing POL.

Don't use dats made for older versions of the client.

My PS2 gets laggy sometimes or completely freezes. Doing a quick restart works every time. Quick = 5 min is the only problem.

I updated the UI before the servers came up on the 18th. That version doesn't crash. I can't do anymore than that.

I have noticed a few 5minute dc's but put it down to internet provider more than ffxi. No .dat messing etc. I don't remember a single dc from July to October update though.

Dc on faust pull proved interesting, logging in to find a new on right infront of me added to the joy, at least rmt don't camp it now....

hmm yes i lost out on actually fighting my animated longsword since my game crashed after changing the chat filters. So i need to your LJ and update my UI?
