Not very similar at all. Its more of a diablo style game with a different viewpoint. There's no real "world" people can interact with. Just a town hub where you can buy/sell gather for missions. The dungeons are pretty repetitive but its fun with a group of others. They took out some "timing" based combos from the previous games. So its usually just tap tap tap to string out combos.

If you like grinding with friends, its not a bad game. If you like more MMOish type stuff, I'd probably shy away from it.

Question: Since there is no CD-Key and you buy a "hunter's license", is the first month "free"?

My guess is since they didnt put in a cdkey, they knew people would pirate it, in this case being able to play online for free forever (but would have to restart a lot).

9.99 gets you 15 free days
49.95 gets you 30 free days

But its a one time thing.

If you can't get it working on PC try cleaning out every single bit of spyware you might have. It's incredibly stupid that I have to get questionable solutions from other people instead of from their own tech support, but it's running, so whatever!

If you like PSO, youll like it, its a hit and miss game for a lot.

I first played PSO back in JP beta on the dreamcast, so ive always been a big fan, and im enjoying PSU.

I've been waiting on some close friends to get it set up online before I started playing, but once I do, my character name is Quadra on the PS2/PC servers. I usually hang out in the first one (whichever one is 5 star?)

ya, I really didn't want to buy it for PS2. I'm just going to play it casually until I can get it for PC and then whore it out.

You dont need a disk to play just to install, and also no cd key. Just tested this with a friend we are "Shareing" a copy.

I'm enjoying PSU so far but there is a lack of quests for the online version sadly. Hopefully more content gets added soon but I doubt it'll be within the next week or two.

The characters look are lot better/more customizeable in PSU than they did in PSO.

So tempted to pick the game up and give it a whirl.
