The best part about that thread was that "I've cleared Dynamis-Bastok with 24 people" isn't evidence that its possible, but "Clearing Dynamis-Bastok with 24 people isn't possible" is evidence that its not. I just wanted to slap so many people in that thread.

Umm....either you really misunderstood what I was trying to say, or I'm really misunderstanding you. Although from your subsequent posts, it seems more like the former. Raineer explained repeatedly how he cleared Bastok with 24 people, but multiple people said that wasn't "proof". The "proof" that it wasn't possible, however, was people saying that it wasn't possible, and nothing more.

If you wanna tell me that I can't read, post a quote that at least, in some way, shape, or form, corresponds to what I was talking about, and provides evidence that I can not, in fact, read.

Oddly enough, there's a thread about this in the MNK forums. Someone said that if you equip a staff, than use Hasso, then go back to H2H, you keep the Hasso bonuses. I seriously doubt that, but seeing as my SAM is level 11, I have no basis for my disbelief.

lol, oh I remember the days of Raineer VS. The RDM Forum. I used to read that forum just for kicks lol, I remember that dyna thread too. I quit reading when Raineer quit posting, because quite honestly it got boring.

I think my favorite though was how whenever a weapons debate would come up, Raineer would mention Blau + Joy as a good combo. People would get all pissed off at him for being an elitist, because who would ever have enough money for a blau?

Yet in the exact same thread somebody would say "Well when I get my Excal I won't use joyeuse anymore" and everybody just accepts it as fact lol.

The lesson here is that Excal is affordable and Blau Dolch is not. Thank you Alla, I never would have realized this without your help! :D

My only regret on leaving FFXI was missing out on the dagger buff by like 3 days, Blau/Joy pimped with all the gear that 100 Cloth could afford was a sick, sick combination.

Doesn't work atleast on the STR portion, so I doubt it will on the acc and speed. Had scythe on and used it and recieved the +5 STR, swapped to man/ridill and it dissapeared. Swapped back to scythe to see if it would come back and it did.

This belief you can only double attack twice in a WS is refering to monk WS and Dual-Weild WS, right? The idea that you can DA once on main hand and once on off-hand?

If that's the basis of the concept, then it's wrong because double attacking is not limited by main-hand/off-hand since you can double attack at least twice in a WS with a 2h weapon or even with a single-weilded 1h Weapon WS.

Monk, however, acts similar to dual weilding in that you get a "main hand" and "off-hand" hit, each with full normal TP, but you can't even try a Raging Fists with only 1 fist available for attacking with to see if you get more than one DA still because a monk can't do a WS if only one fist is available (Try equipping one of the shields monk can equip (or use a non-monk job with h2h skill to equip a shield) and try to WS).

On the other hand, it's not identical to dual weilding. Dual Weilding actually gives you an extra swing in WS. Since monk can't WS with only one fist available, they're not getting an extra swing in their WS when using two fists.

One thing is pretty much definitely true. Asuran Fists is capped at 8 hits. Any number of reasons could be considered for why. 1) It may be something they did to specifically because h2h has certain "advantages" (since base h2h delay is the same, regardless of whether you have one fist available or two, you're literally getting one extra hit per attack round while ninja is delaying every other attack round so they can swing both weapons at once a bit faster than they swing when making single-weapon normal attack rounds). 2) It could be specific to Asuran Fists because it's 8 hits and the more hits in the WS, the higher the chance for multiple Double Attacks (in theory). If DA could activate without limit in Asuran Fists, it would have a higher average of double attacks per WS than Combo or Raging Fists or any other monk WS. There's probably others, but I can't specifically think of them.

There is no doubt that Asuran Fists' 8-hit cap suggests that other WS are also capped at 8 hits, but it is not proof.

Now, if it is true that all WS have an 8-hit cap, it's also possible that this applies to the "main hand," since that's the hand doing the WS. Dual Weild adds an extra hit from your off-hand, though, that may be able to double attack regardless of how many hits have been made with the main hand. If there was a 1h-weapon 8-hit WS, this could easily be proved true or false by trying the WS while dual weilding, which should give such a WS 9 hits without applying Double Attack. However, since there are no such WS, it's not something that can be easily proven true or false. Also, monk's WS isn't viable for that test because, while it appears similar to dual weild, it's not the same as dual weilding. The "off-hand" attack is counted as one of the base # of swings in the WS. Off-hand hit from dual weild is in addition to the base # of hits in the WS. This would allow for WS such as Rampage, Hexa Strike, or Dancing Edge to potentially "break" the "theorized" 8-hit cap if dual weilding.

Hexa Strike would theoretically be the most effective for testing this, since it's 7-hit with dual weild, so you would only need 2 double attacks to reach 9 hits. However, since Hexa Strike is, as far as I know, exclusive to WHM, it's not so eay to test. As far as I know, the only way to have both dual weild and double attack on whm would be to use /nin sub and Brutal Earring, which I believe is only 5% double attack, which is lower than the chance a war or /war has without +da gear. Getting 1 double attack in Hexa Strike would not be particularly common and getting two would be significantly more unlikely. However, it would still be possible. I don't know any whms with fully levelled /nin sub and brutal earring, though. Maybe someday I'll get both tasks accomplished on my whm and do some tests, but that'll be a while. >_>

Dancing Edge would be another good WS to test with, since it is 6 hits with dual weild. Triple Attack, however, is noticably less likely to activate than double attack, which is logical since it's +2 hits instead of +1 hit. Anyway, this noticably reduces the chances to get two Triple Attacks in one WS, though it shouldn't be impossible. On the other hand, with dual weilding and Dancing Edge and getting 8 hits, you don't know if you just didn't get a second TA activation or if it was cancelled by an 8-hit cap.

However, my main chance to see this in action has been with Rampage, which is a 6-hit WS with dual weild, and I've had damage and tp return results that indicates 9 hits landed. Once I get around to meriting war again, I'll see if I can get a screenshot of those tp results, as well as see if I can find any other things that might explain the tp results (though so far nothing other than 9-hits-landing has been able to explain the tp and damage results).

Hmmm...not sure I kept this post quite as cohesive as I intended, but hopefully what I'm saying will be comprehended. Also, don't dismiss the possibility of a 9-hit Rampage just because Asuran Fists is confirmed not to go beyond 8 hits. As I said, H2H isn't identical to dual weild and the 9-hit rampage results I've gotten were dual weilding axes. There might be another explanation for my 9-hit TP results on Rampage, but Asuran Fists does not disprove a 9-hit Rampage in any way whatsoever.

And my guard skill is 0, so that definitely isn't a factor in the 9th hit.
