Canopic Jar, lets all mobs drop Arcana. Might make other stuff drop but that's all I know offhand.

No, 10 gil each. They're used to create other bazaar items, like several of the high end weapons and stuff.

arcana is used for high arcana which is needed for some items

Will this make arcana replace all the goddamn pebbles that have been dropping since buying the grimoire books?

answered my own question, now instead of getting pebbles and the occasional pelt I get pebbles and the occasional arcana.

Gotta love them grimoires, eh?

From what I've seen, the major effect of grimoires is to cause multiple items to drop more often, but not necessarialy better items. The pebble city thing is probably just a side effect of that, because they didn't want to make it too easy to get the good drops from low level mobs (translation: anything you can reach before finishing the tomb).
