    Herald's Gaiters

OK, since there is a newbie forum I feel safe asking a question that I have always wondered about.

Why are Herald's Gaiters so sought after? I mean... I can read the stats and I know what they mean, but is it due to rarity or does it give some serious strategic advantage to the jobs that can wear them?

Speaking of jobs... what's the best job to utilize the Gaiters?

Who doesn't want to run faster?

And best job to use gaiters is any job that is willing to use them for ls purposes (like checking jailer pop spots).

movement speed is always a plus, they are rare and occasionally tiamaat drops nothing at all so that increases thier value (from an already annoying pop time mob)

and they increase the number of jobs capable of kiting stuff if needed other than nins (when the time allows) or any job that can wear crimson legs. A whm can get in and get out again from aoe range and drop a curaga super fast etc, crap like that.

Also I suppose its one of the few good things other than zenith mitts that black mages can actually wear and have some kind of " use" end game and is something else to lust after.

    but yeah...

    that 12% is great.

Or even keep up with kiters easier.

They're really nice for monks to run gaiterless mages down in ballista and beat their faces in.

I'd give them to monks first. Fuck sleepga in ballista.

It's a good way to reward the mages in your linkshell.
Also, every Tiamat is an adventure, with 1% wipes, links, mpks, etc.

    +movement speed is the best.
About a year ago I bought a pair for a whopping 130m. Nowadays I see them go for 40m and it doesn't bother me in the least - it was still worth every penny to an impatient person such as myself.

I remember having to borrow gil nearly 2 years ago when I received our LS's first pair of crimson legs.

I got mine kinda close to when prices were really high too. They just weren't that much, and still aren't, around when I hit endgame. My dalmatica on the other hand......no comment. ~_~

OP has obviously never had an airship take off right as he was getting on.

    Soloing Apollyon NW

The difference between running the same speed as most mobs, and running slightly faster than most mobs, is enormous. One means you get pumelled to death if you make a mistake, the other means you can make a mistake (or even do it on purpose), and get space again anyway.

tbh I don't see it making a huge difference vs anything big, probably just for convienience in-town. It's definetly nice for ballista though, movement speed matters a lot there.
