    Salvage: Arrapago Remnants

post Arrapago stuff here, I've never done this area...

Just adding this to start the Arrapago thread:

Quturbs, Skeletons, and Gespents dropped very little and not often. Lamia and Bhoot dropped cells specific to their job most of the time. We got Enzo's Leggings off an Archaic Rampart on the 4th or 5th floor before time ran out.
Basically, this zone really sucked for us. In every area of the zone, there seems to be 2 mob types ... eg Lamia and Qutrub, Lamia and Skeletons, Ghosts and Bhoots, Soulflayers and something else. The tougher mobs tended to drop 1-2 things pretty reliably, while we were lucky to get a single drop off of the lesser mobs. If I was going back, I would pull the the tougher mobs, then use sneak to get past the lesser ones ... the lesser ones seem to be a waste of time.

My LS encountered the same problem. Wasted too much time on lesser one that didnt drop anything. I'm not sure if it was planned, but it's kinda retarded

    Anyone been back here recently?

planning on trying it on our next run... the only info I've found is that the zone sucks.

First floor has Qrtrub, Lamia, (Bone mobs?)

    Qrtrub drops Weapons and Head/Neck
    Lamia / Merrow drops Magic/Ability/MP/etc?

Either way, having to kill Qrtrub as the first mobs must suck... because they have massive HP. I think the goal should be to get 2x Ability and 1x Weapon cell ASAP so you can make a light SC with Dragon Kick and somebody else.

I'll try and take massive screenshots and analyze them after the run to get a better idea of what mobs are there, and what they drop.

The problem with the Qutrub isn't that they take so long to kill. The problem is that they frequently drop absolutely nothing, even with a THF in the party/alliance.

If it helps, the following is my FFAssist log of the run. I'd like to say that I missed some of the drops somehow, but this seems like pretty much everything from the run (sorry in advance for the long post) ...

Seems close enough to most of the drops. I remember very few melee weapons dropping, like 2 tops. Lots of Magic and lots of Ranged. I think we killed more Bhoots than that though, and that big room of Bhoots was a nightmare with people trying to sneak by them (without sneak) and some people having low HP.

The Deviate Bhoot begins casting Blizzaga III. x_x

Anyhow, I just remember by the end of the run, I was still naked with no weapons as the thief for the run. I guess we're going to have to do the zone again eventually if just for more Arrapago Cards. And we need to find out where the lvl35 Skadi's feet drop too!

On the first floor, melee/rng(or cor, w/e the are) drop weapon, and ranged weapon and hp, mage lamia drop magic and mp. Qutrubs drop weapon and hp also, but the droprate is much worse.

Thanks for the few extra snippets. We're going to do a run on Sunday and I wondered about this zone. I think as it will only be our second we may avoid it this weekend. Did Zhayolm last time which gave us an idea of what to expect and way more magic than I was expecting lol...

Wanna try this soon but prolly once everyone is still getting up to speed. Peeps who have been avoiding assault are finally getting points together...

Did this run tonight, and as many have mentioned we found it to be a waste of time. I didn't take specific notes so i'll just go over briefly what we did/got.

1st floor: took NW area, fought qurtub which usually dropped nothing, began just fighting the lamia. Very bad drop rate, only 1 weapon drop and 1 magic unlock.

2nd floor: Found a Qiqirn Archeologist (blm type). Sleepga us @1, flare on tank @2, then he ran away and went up the porter. Because of sleepga, didn't really get a chance to hit him. Took porter in center of area.

3rd floor: took east path to fight skeletons and lamia/merrow. Skeletons seemed to be as bad as qurtub regarding drop %. In the long north hall there are many ghosts and bhoots, we used sneak to pass them. At the teleporter we found a Qiqirn Treasure Hunter. We engaged him but he ran like a bastard back into the ghosts / bhoots so we couldn't fight him.

4th floor: This floor had some gears and a rampart. In the gear/rampart room, there was a fungar named Migrant Russula, dropped 2 head cells. In the teleporter room for this area we found the Qiqirn Treasure Hunter again who just ran around dropping bombs everywhere. We were hurting at this point so just went up another floor to explore.

5th floor: all gears that aggro and ramparts. These all aggro. Had 1 member sneak past them to get to the porter.

6th floor: Many Archaic Gear, at least 2 Archaic Gears, and 2 Archaic Ramparts. There were big side rooms, one on the west and one on the east that would be safe to pull mobs to. You start off in the center of the room. To the north there is an archaic rampart that blocks a Gilded Door. We did a sac reraise to get past him to open door, but the door was sealed. There was no other door or teleporter to be found. We assumed that killing the archaic rampart(s) would allow the door to be opened, but were unable to test it due to a lack of time.

We were mainly looking for the slot in this area to use our bhaf card, but were unable to find it. Because of the horrible drop rate of this area it seems better to go with a small 6 man group than to try 12-18. We went with 12 and had only 1 weapon unlock and 3 magic unlocks and 4 ability unlocks. As for equip, we saw head/neck, back/waist, rings/earrings, and ranged attack. Also 1 vit cell from the bhoot we fought.

At some point during the run, an Archic Rampart popped on the first floor where you first enter the zone. Our RNGs first noticed it on Wide Scan when we were in the SE room (we were clearing Lamia only, and ended up clearing the entire first floor of Lamia). We really don't know what triggered it to pop. The Rampart was not weak like the normal first-floor mobs ... it hit as hard as normal ramparts do. It summoned Sabotender Maestro. The Rampart didn't drop anything special, but because there is only 1 Sabotender Maestro in the dats and all the other Rampart spawns come in pairs, I think that it is a NM. Unfortunately, it isn't weak either ... did a 1173 needleshot, and we had very few armors.

we just finished this but I'm too sleepy to look over the screenshots in detail. Hopefully I can make sense out of the zone mob list and try and piece together where the mobs go, and which are the important NMs.... tomorrow morning.

    Quick Summary:

1st floor: west side is Qrtrub + Lamia. east side is bones + Lamia. Qrtrub drops 0-1 weapon, 0-1 head/neck cells. Lamia (mage type) spams sleepga (BRING POISON, and also antidotes for the poisonga 2) and drops MP/Magic. Lamia (RNG/BRD type) drops Ranged + abilities. The bones dropped HP and Waist/back.

2nd floor has NM Quiruirin Astrologer in middle who warps after engaging like relic weapon. need to kill fast. We came from NE and the other 3 doors were locked (we didn't kill all the mobs in NE room, just 2 lamia and then went to middle for NM, the NE room also had 4 bones and 2 ghosts). Supposedly JP site says that SW room has Socket, and SE room has Slot for Bhaf Card. If you can't open the doors on 2nd floor, then you have to take SE route on 1st floor to get to Card Slot. I'm hoping it's like Zhayolm where if you clear out the room you started in, the other doors unlock. Or maybe you have to kill the stupid warping + running Astrologer to open the doors. Stun was resisted on the Astrologer also... those Quiquirin mobs are evil (I also can't spell them at 3 AM)

3rd floor has NM treasure hunter (we went east) who runs and drops mines. we killed it and it just drops some lame AGI and DEX cells.

4th floor had some archaic gears (Dropped SJ and Feet?), funguar mobs (no drops), and 2 ramparts (1 summoned a demonic rose). what a surprise, all the Demonic Rose dropped was MORE cells. The Ramparts were pretty tought and also dropped cells.

The cell drop rate is not that bad, but you only get 0-1 cell per mob max so it SUCKS. We went with 12 people but I really don't see how to do this zone well. You need 3-5 melees on the first floor to get your first weapon(s), but if you bring more than 8 people you'll never unlock enough stuff to kill the boss or other NMs.

One thing my group noticed last night, you 100% want a thief for this zone. We only had 7 or 8 people last night so we figured we'd be ok without one. But the cell drop rate was so bad that even lamia often dropped nothing, when they usually had dropped 1-2 things for us before. To start we only had 1 MNK and 1 NIN for melee damage, so it went very very slowly. We still managed to clear all the lamia and merrow on the first floor, some of the skeletons and qutrub as well. I think we got 4-5 magic unlocks, 2 ranged, 2 abilities, 1 weapon, 1 head. The weapon and head drops were from one qutrub that was aggroed on our way back to the rampart that spawned. Oh one other thing we noticed was that the Draugars were much much easier to kill than the Qutrub. We didn't get any drops from any Draugars though. x_x

So like Sykes said, the Rampart was about normal strength for a rampart so it was pretty hard as it was. No one had max HP unlocked, so when it would do TP moves for 400 dmg, it wasn't very fun. Then it pooped out Sabotender Maestro around maybe 30%, and our mages tried to sleep it and it promptly ate our mages. Regular hits were 200-300 dmg. The only good thing was that it didn't have that much HP, we managed to get it down to maybe 50% before it killed us.

All right, here we go... lets start with mob list:
    First Floor
Archaic Rampart //Spawns in entrance after killing a certain mob, # of mobs, or an entire wing?
Sabotender Maestro //Summoned from Archaic Rampart, no reported kills

    NW Wing
    Qutrub
    Qutrub
    Qutrub
    Lamia Graverobber //BLM, spams sleepga
Note: for some reason my SS logs show an extra Qutrub being killed before this room... looks like the mob ordering in the DAT doesn't quite match up with where the mobs are in the zone...although it's close
    Qutrub

    Qutrub
    Qutrub
    Lamia Dartist

    SW Wing
    Qutrub
    Qutrub
    Qutrub
Again, logs show us killing a 4th Qutrub in this first room... perhaps there is a wandering one in each wing? either that or the dats just don't match up to the rooms correctly... gonna stop trying to figure out which mobs are where... the Lamia are placed in the correct order, but Qutrub don't quite make sense.

    Drop Summary:

We had 12 people, THF in each party. I think the setup was:
WAR THF MNK MNK BRD WHM
DRK THF NIN BLM BLM RDM

    Qutrub (First Floor): 26 Total, killed 25. 6 Weapons, 10 Head/Neck
Lamia Graverobber/Dancer + Merrow Shadow/Kabuki Dancer: roughly 66% drop rate on Magic/MP (3/5 for each on first floor, didnt bother to log later)
Lamia Dartist/Fatedealer + Merrow Chantress/Icedancer: also roughly 2/3 drop rate for Ability / Ranged (4/6 on both types)
Bones (First Floor): 8 killed, 3 HP, 4 Waist/back. Also the 1 DRG type dropped 2x VIT, not sure what that's about.
    Deviate Bhoot: Magic cells, other?
    Gespent (ghost): VIT cells, other?
Archaic Gear (4th floor, single): SJ and Leg/Feet
Archaic Rampart (4th floor): HP, Hands
Demonic Rose (4th floor, summoned from Rampart): 3x Leg/Feet, 1x Body
Quiqirin Treasure Hunter (3rd floor, north path): 3x DEX, 2x AGI

The zone doesn't seem that bad once you learn a bit about it... it still sucks that you can only get 0-2 cells from any mob, except for the stupidly hard ones.

I'm not sure if your log reflects that or not, but there is a solo Qutrub in the hallway between the first and second (I think?) room of the NW and SW wings. Those Qutrub are probably the ones that are out of place in the dat files.

Nice info. :O Just to add, Lamia Fatedealers are CORs and Dartists are RNGs (at least outside of Salvage).

I don't have a chat log, just screenshots that I took during the run.

the very first room had 3, then we went west and there was a lamia in the hallway.... then we killed an extra Qutrub (this is the mystery one, I dont know where it came from, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't pulled from that south hallway), then we killed the SW room and continued through the NW wing, reaching a total of 13 Qutrub kills before returning to the entrance and going South.

Not a big deal, can figure it out next time we go.

In some of the hallways connecting rooms, there were just lamia, some had just qutrub, and some had both. I think there was a hallway with a draugar with a wyvern as well. So your extra might just have been one of those hallway qutrubs.

  20. #20

Our group just did this zone tonight. Had about 7 people and didnt go well. I was expecting low drops, but after the 4th qutrub dropped nothing we were getting annoyed and we decided to go for the lamia.

By the time we got to the lamia our mnks had used all their hipots and were borrowing some from others.

    Needless to say Flood >> Stonega3 >> Aeroga3 >> Sleepga2 >> Repeat kicked our asses.

Not sure what to do here other then bring more mnks and thfs at start or just wish for better luck. Gonna try avoiding the Qutrubs for a bit at start, but have to get weapons sometime.

Idk, maybe just some bad luck combined with lack of experience with zone.

Either way i find the other zones to be a ton easier. Cant wait to see how this boss is.
