is vista worth it to grab early, or should i just wait
I like it.
Imma wwait for Vista, atleast a year after It comes out. There's always bugs, little mess-ups,etc. in any new OS.. so yeah, I'll wait.
they said the same thing about XP lol.Originally Posted by Guyverarmor

handles it good.
I haven't had a chance to grab a copy, but wondering what's the OS load on the processor? With the way that FFXI runs, I'd hate to find out that my current laptop won't handle both and then I'd be REALLY pissed off.
Dual Core @3.6GHZ 2GB Ram as an example of my laptop.
I heared many nightmares in the Beta about FFXI not running, or version updates making people do a full reinstall of FFXI due to vista's not being able to put it together, have you heared of these? That's the only reason my new laptop is sticking with good ol' XP.Originally Posted by Zigma
Vista really shines with a dual core processor. Vista limits the load on vista to 50% instead of the typical 90%+ on XP.
As far as what you said wafik, Nope. None. Usually people who would have problems getting to run ffxi on vista are the typical point and click people. If you're a point and click person, stay away until SE officially supports vista.
The only problem someone will run with running ffxi and vista is getting POL to load up during the initial setup. You won't be able to use the NA release. You need the dvd release from like 2006 (or better yet find the 2007 one) and run pol.exe in admin mode (feature in vista).
Vista is good and has a lot of things that are new to it that I like. I'd recommend you check it out.
Just don't be a sheep and install the x64 version because there is really NOTHING that needs it now and if you're running only 1gb or ram, you're gonna lag really bad.
As with what Zigma said, Vista is great, and compared to XP, youll notice better preformance no matter what.
However, its still earlly, I wouldnt recommend installing it unless you want to be a test subject or are looking to buy a new PC. If your XP machine is running fine, id wait awhile longer.
Just need to run ffxi as administrator (like most other things if they're not specifically made for vista), and everything works fine.
