    Windows Media Player problem

Why all of a sudden is this program becoming such a huge resource hog??

    [removed broken link]

It starts off fine, then slowly creeps to that right there. Eventually it rockets to 50-60% CPU usage with 250k+ memory usage.

I tried to revert to Windows Media Player 10. This is the first time Ive had the problem and it seemed to have started when I got my new external HD for my laptop. Ive tried playing media off the external and my eternal HD with the same results. Any clues on what can cause this to happen?

i just tried upgrading from wmp 9 to 11, and i got owned by the genuine validation thing. Tried cracking it for a while just to find out that the cracks I found were all outdated. My next step was to head to http://www.winamp.com where I then solved my WMP problem.

This version of windows media player is retarded and bugged. It does what you say there, takes up huge amounts of CPU power, and also it lags when opening, lags when playing, and just generally all around lags. I also have the problem of when I'm playing movies, the seek button does not work anymore. That means no seek button for DVD's or porn.... I've checked microsoft's website and they have no help for the seek button thing, so I'm uninstalling.

Ya I tried to revert (rollback) to WMP 10 and it didn't help.

I did get WinAmp. Is it normal for a "good" or "better" media player to come with so much shit attempting to install. Seriously this is WinAmp is loaded with a lot of crap if you don't watch what parts you install.

Media Player Classic and VLC player are the only things I use now a days for videos.

For music, I'd highly recommend get Foobar2000.
