It really does look like the line from his hollow mask, and I would say it was done purposefully so. It looks to weird to not have been drawn like that on purpose, especially by Kubo. Though I would also say the "black energy" is really his blood. It looks like the energy from his own attack is rebounding off the sealed gateway and causing damage to Ichigo. Here's the page between the two that the picture is showing. The two middle panels specifically.

Who was hat? If you mean the Vandenreich that appeared, I read it more as him talking about himself when Ichigo first appeared, and Ichigo having none if it and killed him in a single hit.

Yeah, and then they swapped to byakuya, I thought it as still Ichigo for a second, asking if rukia and renji were alive, and that he went into FTG mode again. I was very confused for a page lol.

Huh? Nah it was clearly Akon in the beginning stating he wish he could've done it earlier, with the sternritter killing him. Then the scene switched over to Ichigo showing up.

That's the way I read the chapter.
