See my problem with Isshin being part of the 13 Squad is the fact that no one remembers him in the current crew. Also because the back of his haori has no 13 Division symbol or even a number at all:

Keep in mind this is from a filler episode, and the kanji means "Father". Another thing to keep in mind is that the Isshin that fought Aizen wasn't as strong as he was when he was a Captain, and yet he overpowered Aizen (without his Shikai) until Aizen absorbed the Hougoukyu fully and trolled him.

Also I'ma throw out another of my wild ideas:

Isshin was a member of the Shiba Clan (if not the head) and also once of the reasons why the Shiba Clan eventually fell from grace as a royal family (with Kaiba Shiba's death being the final straw). Hundreds of years before the start of Bleach, Ryūken, Isshin, and Masaki were all friends, who teamed up to slay hollows during the Shinigami and Quincy truce. A love triangle is formed between the three during their adventures, and Ryūken & Isshin constantly vie for Masaki's attention, to which Isshin eventually wins her over (he also picks up the habit of smoking from Ryūken at this time, which helps him win her over). Around this time, Quincy and Shinigami relations break down and Isshin's love for Masaki leads him to want to escape from being a part of the conflict along with Masaki and Ryūken.

Once they escape, Isshin dropped "Shiba" as his surname, and assumes the last name of "Kurosaki" (means "Dark Destination"-- probably similar to what Juhabach told him; "my son... born in darkness") so that he and his new wife could not be found. Also explains why the current 13 Squad did not know the "Kurosaki" surname when Ichigo ran around there (however, Aizen knew the truth all along). Ichigo looks just Kaien Shiba as well (obvious plot device used by Kubo at the time to motivate the now fallen Shiba clan to aid Ichigo in Soul Society's infiltration). After all this, 20 years before the start of Bleach, something major happens, prompting Isshin to use Final Getsuga Tenshou, therefore taking away all of his Shinigami Powers (which eventually came back later by an unknown means or naturally).

It sounds so convoluted if you read that, but I love my crazy theories, so there ya go. The major problem with these theories that I see is the passage of time between Soul Society and the Real World. If Turn Back the Pendulum is "110 Years Ago," it should be 2025~2030 in the Real World (at the time when Shinji was a captain, Jazz music and phonographs were the "rage" in the Real World, denoting it being 1920~1925 at the time). This being if time in Soul Society and the Real World flows exactly the same. I believe time in Soul Society flows slower than the Real World, of course.

As for no one remembering him, it's not that unbelievable that no one would recognize him if he was in squad 0, since they haven't had a "big emergency" that requires their interference for 1000 years, and therefor no one except for maybe Unohana, Yamamoto etc. would have seen him.

As for Squad 0, I've expanded on my theory. I believe the positions were originally held by the 5 noble families, and perhaps that is why they are noble families. It makes sense in a way, since the 5 noble families all have incredibly strong members. Shiba, Kuchiki, Shihoin... All of them have captain-level members. The other 2 noble families are unknown, but my bet is that one member of each is either in, or used to be in, Zero Squad.

That's why I mention that time must flow faster for Soul Society than the Real World. If Isshin's reiatsu isn't recognized by Shinji when he killed Grand Fisher, the 20 year time skip that it took Isshin to regain his powers must have been a much longer time period for Soul Society. I think the Squad Zero = 5 Noble houses holds weight as well.

Lost it lmao. Also, lets not forget that the entirety of Karakura town was in Soul Society at one point so it's not far-fetch Kon probably ran the fuck away from everything when Aizen finally got there and ended up being stuck in SS once KK town was warped back. Either way, its Kon son!
