    RDM Group 1 merits

    Alright, what's some input on this?

    I was thinking definately putting 4-5 points into Wind magic since Silence and Gravity and hella sweet.

    But the remaining 5-6 points, I'm not sure. Ice and Earth for Paralyze and Slow, split even? Or am I missing something important here?

    5 ice upgrades, then split the remaining 5 into wind, earth, thunder, or convert. (Depending on your playstyle)

    Personally, I did 5 ice, 3 wind, 2 convert.

    I did: 3 wind, 3 ice, 4 convert (Thinking about dropping an ice for a convert since im mainly tank pt build)

    I'd say for...

    HNM only:
    definitely 5 earth (for slow II)
    probably 5 wind but its debatable

    EXP ONLY:
    5 convert (although in exp this can be slightly annoying if you are used to Convert / DS + Cure IV....however if you need convert (even without DS up) it's very nice to have readily available)
    5 wind (silence)

    Solo (this is what I did for my Red):
    3 Convert (always helpful for /nin solo and timed BCNMs too)
    4 Ice (bind kiting mostly and also Bliz3)
    3 Wind (gravity in case you get a fluke bind but also helpful for silencing when you aren't using staves solo)

    I used to have 5 wind 2ice and 3 convert. Recently I changed to 3 wind 2 ice and 5 convert since the wind acc does not seemed to do anything at all for me where as on the other hand having convert with a lower recast is definitely nice.

    Personally I've done 5wind/3ice/2earth. I figure, of those three, wind is going to be more essential since people usually live/die where grav and silence are needed. Also I've got 2 merits in slow/para 2, so I don't need acc there quite as badly.

    I have 3 ice, 2 wind, 5 convert. As with anything RDM it's situational really depending on what you do most often. As long as you're not doing something dumb like Fire acc....

    Any mob that you can't land slow on with a terra's staff, can't be slowed.

    Only if you can actually use all that mana, I could only burn it typically if I tossed a couple free nukes. imo it was much better to just not waste mana and save convert for when the shit hit the fan. Even an crazy unresisted full MB of 900-1k on a HNM isn't worth me having no mana just because I did it to burn for convert.

    It is when you need it. I rarely need at the ten minute mark.

    Wind and Ice lv 5 ea. Helps controll the battle field especially when you do low number events.

    can someone give an example of their Equip+Merit set-ups for sticking slow/silence/paralyze/gravity/(bind) on HNM (something is wrong if you can't stick on exp mobs ~.~).
    and then follow with info about what proc rate the spell has for that situation.
    listing slowII/paraII where necessary.

    if you put 20% slow on a mob how equivalent is that to say~ 1/5 paralyze rate?

    convert utility is a personal preference >.>

    And if you can tell the difference between lv 5 and a lv 3 ice/wind upgrade on ANY mobs with top end gear ie Duelist Chap, Nashira, etc.... you are better than me.
    Let me put it this way for your sake.
    If you are the average RDM that do not have access to those gear, by all means COMPENSATE it by maxing out Wind and Ice.
    As for the elite RDM's, Convert 5 is the way to go.

    Oh wait, I forgot most of the people playing FFXI are sheeps and would rather agree to a placebo effect than actually testing it themselves.
