The ram is a fairly easy manaburn.

I've no mage jobs leveled, and I doubt I could convince enough BLMs to help me with this when the only appeal of the KSes is a polearm. If anyone has any suggestions that aren't incredibly mage-heavy, that'd help a bunch more, though I may be able do manaburn it on a friend's account and sit my main in the zone to lot a polearm if it drops.

easy enough to smn burn that bc too. it's actually a rather good time. you can probably drag people along to do it just to try something different. i had a blast when i went. still laughing at a friend who raised up, summoned an avatar, and hit the dirt again instantly. seems she forgot to pull off her sac torque. ^^

Shield skill?

I leveled PLD 1-61 back in 2004, before the shield proc rate update. Now I am finally finishing it off. The problem I am having is that my shield skill is so underleveled that I'm not getting enough skillups in xp pt to catch up. In fact, I'm so far under cap that I'm not even getting enough skillups off xp mobs to keep pace with my leveling. Because of this, I am going to have to skillup shield.

When I get to 75 I expect my shield to be 85-90 points under cap. So my question is, how do I skill this up most efficiently? I bought a Master Shield; since it is size 2 and has +10 shield skill I figured it would help my proc rate quite a bit. With it, I have +30 shield skill. My base is currently 186. I tried getting some chigoes to pound on me, but even though I thought they were right in my skillup wheelhouse (first chigoes were lvl 62, or around 210 skillcap, second batch was more like level 68) after approximately 700 rounds being attacked I only got skillups on 3 hits, for a total of .8 skill.

So, is there something I can do differently to speed this up? I'm trying to wear a combination of -eva and +AGI stuff to maximize my potential block rate, but at this point I am kind of stumped.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned Sha'ir yet or are they just that pricey on most servers now due to O.ingot prices that bards don't bother? I wore mine till Rostrums but this was like 2+ years ago.

The amount they do per tick is tiered based on your INT (just your INT, not your INT vs. target INT or anything). It starts at 1/tick and goes up to 2 at 40INT, 3 at 70INT, 4 at 100INT, and 5 at 150INT. There doesn't seem to be any further tier after 150. Although you didn't ask, the stat reduction is 2*DoT + 3, "DoT" being the amount done per tick, so between 5 and 13. Interestingly, this relationship between DoT and stat- seems to hold true for any elemental debuff effect. For instance according to VZX's info, Cold Wave from BLU at 307 Blue Magic is 18/tick, and 18*2+3=39 reduction in AGI.
