BLM AF (I'm serious, don't laugh at me)

I dinged 50 t'other day, and promptly went about beginning the Lv 50 AF quests for BLM. However, it seems I have run into a slight issue in obtaining the seeds. See, there hasn't been heat wave or rain weather conditions in the Crawler's Nest at any time that I have been online and/or conscious in the last week. So my question is this: Is this stupid conditional normally this difficult, or am I just getting a run of craptastic luck with the weather? I ask because it seems to me that every job I ever took through the CN, I had to deal with elementals getting in the way of my casting sneak every time I had a party there. So what, they all are on vacation this week?

you have run into some craptastic luck, it is rare but at least the seeds are 100% drop, and so is the other item to get the feet, so at least thats no problem.

what worked for me is the weather guy in jeuno, who tells you the weather in rolanberry fields.

EDIT: RULE #5 of FFXI Item drop rate is inversely proportional to the desire to obtain it
RULE #5a Rule 5 is void if you are planning on ninja lotting or quartermastering said item

    Suck it up ;p

Seriosuly, go down with an hour or so spare and you should be fine. I had to repeat some BLM AF which meant re-doing feet - killed a few EP Beetles out of bordom and 3rd fight we had rain weather.

Similar story first time I for AF for BLM also.

Been camping in there for a week now @_@

Edit: Will checking Rolanberry weather clue me in, or are the two zones unrelated?

  5. #5

They are linked, and it will tell you when there will be rain weather, but I don't think there's any difference in the dialog if there's a chance for fire weather.

Well the NPC justs tells you about rolanberry fields, but in my short trips thru both places, the weather seems related.

    i have no proof to back it up tho ;;

Lots of people have this problem. Just chill at the zone farming bees and zoning in and out.

So, the weather in CN is dependant upon weather in Rolanberry? So I can just camp the weather NPC until he says heat wave or rain?

I got fire elemental first time camping it, took me forever like 5-6hours. You can check npc, but you still need to go a few day aheah cause it take a while to get down to elemental area

I remember when I camped the water weather, it took about 2-3 hours. I hung out near the "not-so-secret" secret room.

Ok, at this point the weather NPC has said "sunny weather" for the last 48 consecutive game days. So, is the weather in the CN directly related to that of Rolanberry fields? Or can it rain in there w/o it raining outside? I'm seriously getting tired of this @_@

It's summer in game so, it sucks for you. You'll probably have to wait till sept or october in game for more rain.

Aye sir, which is what I've been wearing since Lv 29 @_@

Remember, the weather NPCs aren't always correct. Even if they say it'll be a clear day it could still rain etc.

don't worry about the whine key droprate too much- I actually completely lucked out and got mine on first kill (BLM 54, just did all that fun last week...it had been sitting at 37 for over 18 months lol)- got completely screwed over in Eldieme for a coffer key though- 8 hours of solo skele/spriggan/haunt killing until I FINALLY got the drop.

Oh by the way, do the Rhinostery quests for Tor. Canal access if you haven't yet, and there is one aspect that involves killing a very too weak NM in Eldieme. If you accept that quest from the rhinostery before coffer key hunting, you can kill two birds with one stone.
