Calculating Melee Attacks?

As the usual disclaimer, I apologize if this has already been asked, and if it has I would appriciate being redirected to where I could read about it.

What is the formula for calculating a standard melee attack (If there even is one?) As well, could anybody explain the specifics of why STR is so inferior to attack for TPing?

Attack vs Defense (pDIF) is multiplied into (Weapon DMG + fSTR). STR can increase fSTR (for melee attacks, 4 STR = +1 fSTR roughly).

pDIF * (WMDG + fSTR) = ?

Plug in numbers and see how things progress. I'm not 100% on this, but in most situations it'll be 30-40 attack to alter pDIF 0.1, so you can use that when testing gear/setups.
