More Specific Vista Problem

So got my new PC with Vista and what have you.

I went to POL and followed their instructions on what to do. I downloaded the Vista version of POL on to my PC and I was able to log on to it fine.

Then, like the instructions told me, I inserted by FFXI installation CD. However, when I do that, a prompt comes up and tells me that I do not have POL viewer installed on my hard drive (when I clearly do)

I tried this already: Uninstalled Vista POL, installed regular POL, installed FFXI, installed Vista POL again, but then when I try to play FFXI, it tells me that it's not installed.

ive installed on vista x86 and x64 about 15 times and have never seen that spcific prob

only reason i could posibly think of that could cuase this is if u have 2 hard drives in your comp and pol got installed to 1 and FFXI tryin to install to the other

Anyone know the number for POL tech support? I'll try calling them tomorrow.

I don't understand why it's not working for you. Sounds like a registry issue. Got a spare machine on winxp that u can install ff11 on?

Can you post a screenshot of your registry entries? More specifically, your InstallDir key for POL: HKLM\Software\PlayOnlineUS\

They were able to help me.

I downloaded the POL Vista version from a link to the POL website on one of the threads here in the Technical Support section.

That link was to the European POL website. NA versions of FFXI are not compatible with EU POL. So I downloaded the NA POL version and I'm all set now. Just updating and installing etc.
