    Nyzul Weapon Discussion

I know, it may turn out SE just feeds us the answer in the future, but I thought the discussion and history of the weapons was kina cool and I like compiling stuff.

Underneath is listed their stats and history in the Final Fantasy series. I made the history based off their JP names since they're more likely to match as translations have changed a lot of equipment names over here. I tried to list the most significant match in terms of power or legendary status.

    • Burning Fists - バーニンナックル - Burning Kunckles
      H2H D+16 Delay+96
      Lv75 MNK
      ---

FF6 バーニンナックル - Strongest merchant-sold fists. Fire element and sometimes casts Fire.

FF3 (ワイトスレイヤー only) - Weak sword, did high damage to undead. An oddly exclusive sword however, available to Red Mage and the "generic" classes Freelancer/Onion Knight. Strangely, the only weapon with no historical connection to the job it's for. Warrants more research.

    Theory Compilation

    Some credits:

    Bagel - Trial weapon idea
Sho - Used his history list as a jumping point to research the weapons
Rentwokay - 15,000 pt Assault weapons

    ---
    Random Thoughts
    • 18 weapons in total, 1 for each job[/*:m:28666]
    • 13 weapon types, since some repeat but are different within their weapon group, e.g.:
      Vorpal Sword - Rapier class
      Wightslayer - Scimitar class
Brave Blade - Bastard Sword class[/*:m:28666]

    Unlock a previously unusable weaponskill

It's often suggested that the names hint at their abilities, i.e. Dancing Dagger gives Dancing Edge. However, the original JP name for Vorpal Sword is Sharp Sword, while the JP for Vorpal Blade matches. Most likely, the name does not dictate the function.

    Weapon Combination
Do Nyzul weapons combine with something else?

    • Trial Weapons - A significant amount match Dmg/Delay

      Knuckles of Trials
      Dagger of Trials (THF)
      Pick of Trials
      Axe of Trials
      Nodachi of Trials
      Tachi of Trials
      Club of Trials
Pole of Trials (BLM & SMN)
      [/*:m:28666]
    • Mighty Weapons - No matches, some match as D+1, Delay[/*:m:28666]
    • Runic Weapons - No matches, several types missing[/*:m:28666]
    • Martial Weapons - Only Martial Knuckles matches[/*:m:28666]
    • JSE weapons from 99 KS battles - Arguably the "ultimate" BCs of the main continent where you fight copies of HNMs. Loose connection, but who knows. Problems include missing jobs/weapon types and PLD gets two different swords.[/*:m:28666]
    • 15,000 pt Assault Weapons - Related by expansion and being part of Assault.[/*:m:28666]

I suspect the Runic Key obtained by the disk-holder upon completing floor 100 may have something to do with any special effects these weapons may have. After all, keys do unlock things.

If these things do actually have an alternative purpose that's implemented already, it's probably unlocked WS points-style.

I give this thread a page before it gets spammed with "LOL ITS CALLED (x) SO IT PORBALLY DOES (something based on x)".

This one was tough... as 魔神の斧, it's a legendary weapon from the Dragon Quest series. Best I could find...
To be more specific, it had HIGH attack power. Like... third highest in DQ3 I think, behind the sword added in the GB port and the nutso Whip.

To trade off, it was cursed. Don't know what the curse did, as I never wore the axe.

Was thinking the key item would be needed to access later nyzul assaults. Whether it be totally new missions, or adding more floors.

I suggested that the weapons may combine with the 15,000 Assault Point weapons that can be purchased.

They may not match up statwise, but considering they're a Rare/Ex weapon you need to work for rather than just run to the AH and buy, it'd make sense as an intermediate piece.

And, naturally, I'm basing this on absolutely nothing but my own logic.

Why does no one connect Mage's Staff to Magus Staff? I thought they were the same thing. The FF games that have Magus Staff in them (Although I can only recall FFV off the top of my head-- one of its Legendary 12 weapons) gave increased elemental magic damage.

Depends on the translation, I guess. I've seen it as Sage's Staff, too.

The most recent translation I found had it listed as Wizard Rod and Sage Staff. Direct from JP it would translate as Wizard Rod and Wiseman's Staff (basically Sage). That's the reason why if the JP names didn't match I didn't list it because EN translations can be just plain different (Holy=Pearl?) or they get changed throughout the years.
Throughout the FF series you'll see a lot more consistancy with JP terms because they were never subjected to localization or censorship.

I started doing something like this in my ffxi lj, but got lazy and didn't finish.

info i snatched about S. katana

    Sasuke Katana:
Appeared in FF5 as an "Ultimate Weapon" known as Sasuke's Katana

    # Sasuke is a legendary ninja's name, Sarutobi Sasuke. Translated as "Ninja Blade" for the PSX version.

    # It is also the original name of Shadow's "Hardened" in Final Fantasy VI. This Katana has also made an appearance in Final Fantasy IV Advance, Final Fantasy I, Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles with the name of "Sasuke's Blade."

    # Stats of item from FFIV: Advance
    Sasuke's Katana
    Attack +95
    Precision +49
Stats Change: AGI +10, STA +10

    # Stats of item from FFV
    ATK:99
    Spd+1
    Increases parry rate

    # Stats of item from FFVI
    ATK: 121

random thought/question: have we seen body/leg pieces drop from nyzul? all the screenshots i've seen are hands/feet and i might have seen a head. maybe key item+ weapon on nm's allows body/leg drops? sry if i'm wrong about not seeing body/leg drops yet.

The group who got a BST axe posted a body and legs, not sure on legs but the body was definitely there.

The reason you see more feet/pants is because most people have moved slowly and tried to farm those lower floors. The is a post of every single part being dropped that I have seen, I believe someone even posted they are 4/5 Denali atm.

Perhaps these weapons have a hidden TH effect, such as causing fafnir to drop more(nyzule fafnir), or even when you kill regular NMs in Nysule it increases chances that the ??? item will be the NMs normal drop.

Oh wow, glad you looked it up. I knew this would be the one, but for the longest I was slapping myself trying to remember why they should match up as one and the same. Damn "Inferno" word throwing me off. @_@ I simply forgot that Sickles existed in FFV as well, lol.

Mage's Staff, there are many translations for, so I assumed it was the staff that was always used as a "Fire" item (and "Thunder " in FFII). Though I did add the fact that there was a weapon latter on that raised elemental stats/resistance.

Was probably said already (read both thread quickly kinda), but weapon hidden effect might activate when you wear the full Nyzul set. I doubt it's the case tho, since it would make the whole set/weapon obsolete if they suck, or would make every other piece of gears useless if they are good.
