Question though, how is it that a heisman trophey winning QB gets dropped all the way to the 5th round in Troy Smith? So much better than Quinn ever was in the college ranks, kinda sad.

Main thing with Smith is that he was so short. I think he is like 5'10, whereas Peyton Manning is like 6'5? It makes a big deal for throwing over the line. The college game is much different than the pros.
Also they said there is lots of issues with his accuracy.

There have been lots of Heisman winners who have been bust pros. Eric Crouch and Danny Wuerfful (loved him in college) to name a couple.

Ron Dayne absolutely dominated shit for 4 years at Wisconsin on his way to a Heisman, but his style of running (run through every tackle because you're way bigger than the linebackers) doesn't work nearly as well in the pros. It's just a different game, and Ohio State was good all over - makes it much easier to be a capable quarterback.
