Should probably be noted that the chariot to unlock boss door is about as weak as a gear.

My new salvage group is going to be doing this zone today and can anybody please tell me how easy/hard Dekka is? Wiki says it attacks at hundred fists speed so it seems like it would be sort of a challenge
more like hornetneedle speed, doesn't hit too hard though
iirc he hit me as a thief for 45? heh
Cstance monk + paralyzed/blinded/slowed Dekka = easy! Especially when you get a strong para on him. Hundred fists speed is kinda exaggerated though, I'd put it more at double march hornetneedle.Originally Posted by Kaisho
It really isn't that hard. Wafik is right, with just slow/para/blind, its easy to fight. I went with a group of 6, and the other war/nin tanked it just fine (I was also war, but I didn't have magic unlocked at the time).
Ty for the advice, we only got to kill Dekka and Gyroscopic gear due to a mess up on 1st floor causing a wipe lol But anyways, 1/3 Skadi's Jambeaux now.
Noticed something unusual while cleaning Powderkeg's room today. We got a link of 1 MNK crew and 1 imp and started on the imp first, binding the crew. The crew was nearby but out of melee range, yet every time the imp used Tantara the crew would immediately use a TP attack. This happened 4 times before the imp died, and when we started on the crew his TP behavior was normal.
I guess you need to be extra careful in the case of imp/crew links, since Tantara seems to give the crew full TP.
Fuck you, Gyroscopic Gears, fuck you.
Hmmm we just did a run tonight, 2 mnks tanking, 2 rdms for healing and a bard, a blm and rng for extra damage, and me as thief and a nin kinda stayed out of the way. The fight took us a very long time and eventually ended with a wipe, probably because it took too long. But i just cant see how to do this fight in 15 minutes, especially with the brain jack session. This was our first time fighting this boss so was it just because we were unfamiliar, or did we lack DD's, or were we all supposed to 2 hour at the start of it, or something completely different?Originally Posted by Mikayla
Also for hitting all those NM's and the boss, how many monks / relic weapons do you think is necessary, and do you skip a lot of the first floor fomors?
It can be done.
Today we went
MNK
MNK
NIN
BRD
WHM
RDM
RDM
BLM
THF
We did Powderkeg and GGears and we did the fight just fine. Brainjack is really no problem if you have people kiting and binding the charmed DD's. No relic weapons, Alma is sexy and decked in Usukane but it's pretty simple. Practice makes perfect.
On Saturday we did the Adamantoise+Boss in one run, spent a little too much time in the 1st floor but we cleared those 2 NMs np.
LAC is very very squishy, 2 mnks and 3 blms it went down in 10min just fine.
On the Third Floor, if I was to bypass the east side room, and take the west portal up to the Fourth Floor - would that cause me to teleport to an area where Citadel Chelone (sp) would be unaccessible?

Drew up a rough farming strat for this area... hopefully will be using it withing the next few days...
The plan is to enter with ~6...
First Floor - East Path
1: clear the six rooms each containing two fomors.
2: clear the eight fomor room for the cell drops.
3: kill the weak fomor in the central room if some cell is desperately needed, otherwise skip it.
Second Floor - Southeast Path
1: clear the 16 Ashu Talif Crew... kill Devilets as needed, if they are going to interfere with pulls.
2: kill Powderkeg Yanadahn - hope for a double drop.
Third Floor - South
1: bypass all the Archiac crap in the southern room, head to the eastern room
2: depending on time, pop the G.Gears...
3: if short on time, skip G. Gears, kill Ramparts to proceed to fourth floor
Fourth Floor - East Side
1: sounds like a huge clusterfuck... hope it's not as bad as it sounds...
2: try for Citadel Chelonian & Nemain's Crown
Not sure how much of this we can fit into 100 minutes - as we've never done SSR before.
Spend less time in the 1st floor. Waaaay less time. Make sure your MNKs have magic cause stuff hits pretty hard on next floor.
Everything in this zone drops cells. You'll still be getting cells when clearing the 16 fomors, you'll still be getting cells on the 3rd, 4th floors, etc...
Thanks.Originally Posted by Julian
Maybe skip the 6 rooms of 2? The room of 8 seems to be a good farm, since you get 5 cells each, and you pretty much know what you'll be getting...
I'd suggest clearing the 3 rooms heading south, then pull from the sides until a tank has magic. The 8 fomor with guaranteed drops hit much harder than the ones in the first few rooms.Originally Posted by Francisco II
Thanks and noted... how hard do these things hit when compared with mobs from Bhaflau Remnants?
Anyone have any experience with Citadel Chelonian?
The fourth floor sounds rather chaotic, but that's just going by FFXIclopedia - and I'm assuming all the Archiac Gear and Archiac Gears will aggro and link.
How to do 4th floor:
When you zone in, you have 5 min before the 6-gear-train arrives. Spend time farming those chests, when a Fanatic's drink pops up, give it to the person who will be doing the sac-work.
Have someone at the entrance of the room full of stuff, and have everyone else camp in the room with the 4 chests. When the gear train is arriving, have the person watching run back (don't aggro them cause you'll link) and let the alliance know they're comming.
ES sleepga2 order worked for us, since we usually have 2-3 blms. These gears seem a bit more resistant than others (my lullaby was getting owned, but idk how well blms would sleep w/o eseal, probably not too bad)
If you're definitely not going for the megaboss, have your melees 2hour these at the start to clear them faster.
After gear train is dead, the person with the fanatic's drink will move up, have 4 or so people follow him to claim the ramparts. Fanatic's drink person drinks it, runs into the room and aggros everything. (Fanatic's drink lasts 1min) After everything is aggroed, have people claim the ramparts (NOT WITH DOT) and pull them back north, past the door (so other stuff wont link)
If fanatic's drink person can die right before the room without aggroing the alliance, do so, or else die to the south and re-sac again to get back to the group.
For the 4 ramparts, just kill them and sleep reinforcements. When the 4 ramparts are dead, another rampart will pop in the middle of the room. Spend this time to clear some of the reinforcements. About 1min later the rampart will pop out the adamantoise, just pull it (nothing links to it)
Standard turtle, don't cast thunder, etc.
fyi, if you go for the boss, the chariot is VERY EASY. just do the same sac-pull method as before (have the weakened person spamming chests for another drink while people fighting ramparts) and just pull the train as far south as you can, rr when you die, and head up
