Does the 8800GTS + Windows XP work with FFXI?

It works. Just whenever 15+ show up on my screen, FPS goes from 29 to 15ish.

works absolutely amazing on vista, and I was thinking of going back down to xp - guess not now.

I guess i'm just confused why people are saying they can stay at a constant 29FPS with an 8800 when most people have the lag issue you mentioned.

They are either lying, or running at very primitive settings. Or then again maybe they've found a way to get it to work or are just some of the lucky ones.

I'm still probably switching back to xp, hoping I don't have these problems. I know on vista it's been absolutely great for ffxi/wow/bf2142 no matter what I was doing and with full settings - where as all my other cards either had problems with them or refused the game completely.

From what I've heard the lag issue is only with vista users. I personally don't use it so I'm curious to switch over from a watercooled crossfire setup to 2x watercooled 8800gts SLI.

Terrible fps on XP with the 8800.

Especially bad when an avatar is out, standing next to a gate crystal, or a bard song effects are going off.

For me, it stutters when Fragmention/Yukikaze/Sentinel goes off. Songs and avatars aren't a problem.

I decided to just order two ati x1950 xtx 512mb. hopefully thats a better route than what nvidia is giving their customers currently.

I don't have any problems with ffxi on xp with two 8800gts's in sli.
