Assault Ranks - info + future

Hey all,

When I was doing my Assault runs I wondered "How many more ranks will there be?". I did a little research, gathered some facts - and here they are.

The whole rank system is based on Japanese ground units rank. As you can see here:

it clearly resembles FF11 Assault rank system (wiki: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Mercenary_Rank).

Lets move on.

First Assaults (and ranks) were introduced together with Treasures Of Aht Urhgan expansion (Japanese names in brackets):

1. ToAU introduction:

So we have 9 ranks available and 8 still to be possibly introduced in future updates!

And one more thing - there are 5 Serpent Generals, 5 Assault areas:

• General Rughadjeen - Skyserpent - Troll - Lebros Cavern[/*:m:081b1]
• General Zazarg - Stoneserpent - Other - Leujaoam Sanctum[/*:m:081b1]
• General Mihli Aliapoh - Waterserpent - Lamia - Ilrusi Atoll[/*:m:081b1]
• General Gadalar - Flameserpent - Mamool - Mamool Ja Training Grounds[/*:m:081b1]
• General Najelith - Galeserpent - Imps - Periqia[/*:m:081b1]

So - to speculate - maybe in some future updates in order to get a General title - you will have to fight a Serpent General? Or do a mission with him/her? Time will tell.

i think the next patch will have Rank up to 1st Lieutenant, 5 more Assaults, Rank up to Capitan and it ends.

Huh, I only knew of 1 more rank. Then again, national ranks go up to 15 in the .dats.

So - to speculate - maybe in some future updates in order to get a General title - you will have to fight a Serpent General? Or do a mission with him/her? Time will tell.

That would be so awesome. Either one. Maybe:
You fight onslaughts of the enemies you listed in those areas (in addition to stuff like puks/ziz/etc. for Mamools and Fomors for the imps;
Leujaoam can maybe focus on Qiqirn thieves, Far Easterners, and/or random nasties), and then after you complete all 5, an onslaught vs. a variety of rampart reinforcements/archaic machines/Poroggos/Qiqirn/imps/flan/soulflayers in Nyzul Isle with all 5 of the generals.

I bet we get Rank 10 - Lieutenant or 1st Lieutenant, and thats it. We have been getting 1 rank per 3 month update lately and the winter update will be all about WotG.

Yeah, there's most likely only going to be 10 Ranks. Just like in the starting cities. So they will probably end it at captain. Also, WoTG is slated to come out by the end of the year, and once it does ToAU will most likely be over and done with. SE has already said that ToAU is about 80% complete anyways, so most likely they will be adding the remaining 20% in the last update in October-ish.

There's probably 2 more updates: 1 in August and 1 in October. June->October is too big of a gap. EDIT: Or maybe 1 update like you said, although I would guess more of a September-ish date. But if there were only 1 more ToA update + the first WoG update, then I think this year would have the least amount of updates in FF11 history?

Did someone look in the dats and find only 10 "slots" for Assault missions at each staging point?

Pretty sure there is 10 maps for each assault area, and they have been repeated so if its limited to 10 ranks we wont see all 10 maps. Im expecting they will drag it out beyond WotG.

I'm pretty sure that someone had the dats to the list that the Sanction guard gives you for items you can buy with IS, and that had 10 ranks as well.

Didn't she take the glory crown as part of a mission storyline?

I'm hoping to see the Assault & Mission storylines converge at the end where she gives the crown back in the form of a melee/mage/tank type selectable headgear.

That's why Mr. Ridill wants to have a conversation with her about avarice. She jacked hundreds of Gold Pieces from us, not to mention who much she pilfered from us for the Second Lieutenant rank up quest.

don't the badges have unique names with 1st letter of each word of the title ie SL Wildcat Badge, C Wildcat badge (corporal),

so since we already have Corporal would we see another title besides Captain that would be used?

I didn't really think it would be a "smack", moreso a slice persay (however that would...sound...?)
