    Help with buying Graphics Card

    Recommendation for a Graphics card?

OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    Processor x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 4 GenuineIntel ~2793 Mhz - x2
    Total Physical Memory 1,024.00 MB
    Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB
    Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB
    Power Source 375 W

    Thats what I have going.

I wouldn't like to to go above 125$ but i will go up to 175$ if you can talk me in to it.

Edit: Also I have PCI and PCI express 16x

Edit: Edit: I would also like for something that is used more for gaming then anything else.

Ugh, this same topic comes up over and over again. If you're going to say gaming, look at the other threads. If you're not going to use it for gaming then we can suggest one to you.

Also, you may need to upgrade to a 400W PSU depending on what you get.

True, and since I'm going to be in the market for a new vid card soon. Primaryly for FFXI, though I do some basic-level photoshop work as well. Also need the ability to multi-monitor if needed.

Also, since my computer uses system memory for it's on-board video, would a significant upgrade of the memory (adding 2gb worth) make an improvement?

It would help, yes. However you'd get the most bang for the buck by checking to see if you have an available slot on your motherboard for a discreet videocard. THAT would up your performance all the way around

going by what i see on there, you should really consider buying a PCI-e card instead of just upgrading ram, the PCI-e card will dramatically improve performance compared to just an onboard video card doing both would make it even better
