    Battle Adjustments (08/23/2007) (BST, PUP, COR adjustments)

    August will see adjustments to two-handed weapon wielding and several jobs.
    If you missed our description of grips and two-handed weapons, be sure to check it out. In this edition, we will be covering job enhancements.

    Beastmaster
    The duration for which a beastmaster can maintain a pet invoked with the "Call Beast" ability will be extended. The new length of time, though varying depending on the type of pet brought forth, may be up to 90 minutes.
    Additionally, when not engaged in combat, pet healing will be possible through use of the "Stay" ability. Finally, the experience penalty previously incurred by a beastmaster while using a charmed monster will be done away with.

    Corsair
    After the version update, corsairs across Vana'diel will be the happy recipients of several job enhancements.
    For starters, the effect of Phantom Roll will be augmented so that the effects can be felt even when neither a large nor Lucky Roll is made. To make a comparison, the efficacy of a corsair's roll will generally exceed that of a bard's song. Should a corsair roll an 11, the efficacy will, for the most part, exceed that of two bard's songs.

    The length of immobility a corsair suffers during their rolls has also been shortened. In addition, the merit point-accessible ability "Fold" will function to reduce the likelihood of busting, as well as modifying the effect of rolls.

    We will also be adding new gear that will further increase the range of Phantom Roll. When using the roll and this gear in tandem, even players engaged in combat at some distance from the corsair will fall within the area of effect. And as if that weren't enough, players can even expect new ammunition with rather enticing damage ratings.

    Puppetmaster
    The update also brings with it two all-new heads to supplement the puppetmaster's arsenal of automaton accoutrements.
    The primary purpose of both heads is to grant magic bonuses: one for healing, and the other, elemental. For example, equipping the "healing" head will cause an automaton to undergo a healing magic power enhancement. As a result, subsequent cure spells will encompass all party members, rather than the puppetmaster alone.

    Careful reconsideration has led us to raise the current skill limits for automatons as well. With these increases, puppetmasters can expect to see improved performance from their automata in such areas as attack power and accuracy, magic accuracy, and more!

    I like how they are making an 11 roll actually worth a shit, double the efficiency of a bard song? How's this gonna be with Evoker's roll :D

    edit : Btw this patch just made BST AF2 useful, for those not in the know, +CHARM on gear extends charm length, +CHR affects success rate of charm. Now that there is no penalty, there is more reason to charm a T mob for your party, so there will be more reason for a BST to equip AF2 while charming to extend the duration. Even match mobs charm lasts forever, T shorter, VT much shorter, IT.... better familiar ;p

    So, Pup gets the ability to be a back seat WHM, ha ha, Summoner V2.

    BSt gets a well deserved update, now we can see them in more exp groups, definately needed, and Cors can compete with bards.

    Not bad, to make up fot last update

    Evoker's roll was one of the ones not really in need of a boost... I wonder if they'll change that one. o_o

    Oh, and nice PUP changes from the look of it, new heads are looking interesting. :3 Hope the skill cap is raised significantly too, though it's doubtful. But an improvement is an improvement. >_>;

    The way I read it is that the 30% exp penalty of having a charmed pet at all is gone, by which logic T pets will still cause a penalty, like having a higher level person in the party... useless again?

    What this probably means is a decent Evoker's roll will almost always be as good as Refresh and an 11 will be a little short of G-horn.

    Doesn't the note just mean BST wont get a 30% exp penalty anymore? If you charm a mob, you're still bringing in a member that could potentially throw the level curve.

    OH GOD YES PUPPETMASTER, I hope the change is significant, E100 already takes hits and deals a fair bit of DoT damage, and finally some decent cures for soloing!

    However I have capped melee nd magic, will the increased limits mean I have to skillup both again ?_?

    edit: COR getting stronger and more reliable to better compete with BRD, wonder what an 11 on rouge's or fighter's is gonna be like now, iirc 11 on rouge's with THF is already pretty sweet

    looks more to me like noone gets the 30% penalty period.

    No one got the 30% penalty before update except the BST anyway.

    They mean charming a Tough mob and fighting with it in your party will act like having a lvl 76 or 77 in your party = less exp for the party in general.

    Edit: WTF @ COR buffs as I'm getting BRD to 75. ; ; Oh well, I still have my Storm Fife for Salvage and don't require an Ability cell.

    Meaning we still have'a da problem.

    On the other hand, now that jug pets last at least more than one hour, they're more practical for exp. Some of the 75 caps besides CC might be good. :X

    Lv75 mobs can still do good damage to T/VT mobs can't they? Although I don't think there are any EM mobs at any of the current ToAU camps are there?
