Wierd internet/router problem with FFXI

Ok heres the problem... as best as I can describe it.

I can freely surf the internet for hours, leave stuff downloading and play other games like WoW with no disconnections at all. Now when I try to play FFXI, I can enter the game but once I hit whitegate I start to DC right away (Sometimes even when i'm in mog house). Now while i'm dcing in FFXI I tried using Firefox to find out that my whole internet connection isnt working. So disconnect off the wireless network, reconnect and works fine again. Start surfing the net with no problems, and once I start up FFXI and get in game the connection dies out every time.

Looked up proper ports... and took care of:
TCP Ports: 25, 80, 110, 443, and 50000 - 65535
UDP Ports: 50000 - 65535

Now whenever I get to the character connection screen, it dies out at "Downloading Data" before my character is fully loaded.

have you tried without windower and custom DATs? Not that it does really matter, but computers are weird sometimes

Anyways, no Custom Dats installed. Tried booting FFXI the "normal" way and it craps out saying "Failed to Initialize Direct3D".... boots Driect3D fine when using windower heh.

Check the POL Files, and FFXI Files with no problems detected.... Connected it directly to modem, and was able to log in with no R0 problems at all.

Think I might just do a fresh install.....

Ok, so once all the ports were taken care of... I could no longer get to the character selection screen. It would lock up before connecting to the FFXI Lobby. I ended up removing:
TCP Ports:50000 - 65535
UDP Ports:50000 - 65535

While leaving all the other ports the same.... and well, im sitting in whitegate and no DCing. So i'm hoping my whole problem is fixed, gonna just leave the game on for a bit and see how it does.

Nope still same problems, just lets me stay in game for roughly 5 minutes before my computer completely gets disconnected from the net.

Completely disabled windows firewall to test this, and still the same results.

I would just like to add that this problem has only started after the recent FFXI update. I have not changed any network gear on any equipment in my house.

Problem solved it looks like...

I rolled back the system (System Restore) to a savepoint from last month, and the problem seems to be all set. The only thing that was changed, was something called Xlink Kai was installed. Anyone know what this is? Roommate isnt home to ask him, as hes the only other one who uses this PC>

Allows console games to be played over the internet instead of just over LAN.

that could do it since it would mess with settings to allow for that, removing it is what fixed your problem im sure

Well, problem not fixed.

R0 the second my character loads (Sitting in Port Jueno ATM) my /lsmes doesnt even load thats how quickly I DC. lol
