Figuring out a synth's subcraft levels...

I love decorating my MH, and I need ice energy for leather moghancement, so I'd love a Buckler Plaque.

From Somepage:
# Main Skill: Goldsmithing (94 - Veteran)
* Sub-Skills: Woodworking (? - Unknown), Clothcraft (? - Unknown)
* Crystal: Fire
* Ingredients: Mythril Ingot, Silver Sheet, Mahogany Lumber, Platinum Ingot, Platinum Sheet, Fluorite x2, Rainbow Velvet

As I understood it, you just looked at the items from the subcraft to get a rough idea of the subcraft's level requirements. So for Buckler Plaques, woodworking's subcraft would be roughly Mahogany Lumber's level (~51). The problem with this is the cloth requirement: Rainbow Velvet is level 79 cloth.

I really hope someone's going to tell me I figure subcraft levels wrong, not that this item is funky and requires a crafter who is high 80s gold, 70s cloth. :/

Capped at 60, most likely.

Look at Kyudogi. It's a Clothcraft synth, which needs a Cerberus Leather(95 LC synth) and a Scintillant Ingot(98 GS synth). However the cap on these subcrafts is only 60. Can't say for sure, but I assume that's the way it is with all synths where the materials used by the subcraft are over 60 themselves.

As far as i know there are Zero synth recipes that require a hybrid crafter

Ah, that rocks! Thanks for the info. I wasn't going to level all subcrafts on her, but maybe I'll do those two so I can crank out the bucklers for friends and such.

DRK was my first 75 job, man! But no one ever sees me on it, since most folks want my BRD for stuff instead.

Plus BRD runs fast so I tend to stay on that around town.

There are a bunch of synths using ingredients that cap higher than the actual subcraft requirement. Example: Verdun

Goldsmithing (99)
Smithing (51)
Crystal: Fire
Yield: 1

* Adaman Ingot x2
* Gold Ingot x1
* Mercury x1
* Platinum Ingot x1
* Spinel x1

and considering Adaman Ingot caps at 91 smithing...

As far as Buckler Plaque specifically, I crafted one at 98 Goldsmithing and all subcrafts capped at 60 with no problem.

Cool, thanks. I'm kind of... stuck at the moment. I wouldn't call it burnout, I just can't get my brain to think about skilling right now. It makes no sense, since wood and cloth to 60 would be a joke after gold to 90-something, but I just can't make myself do it. It's been like this for a few days now. I stare at synth lists to try to make a skillup path, but my brain balks and refuses to think about it. I guess I'm going to take a bit of a break, then jump onto subcrafts later.

just wanted to make a rare situation comment regarding subcraft levels- they don't always equal out to the materials used even when the materials used are below level60 synths.

For example:

Gold thread (clothcraft 58, goldsmithing 41)

Earth Crystal
Silk Thread
Gold Ingot

The gold ingot recipes range from 51 (for the beastcoin recipe) to 54 (for the nugget+ore recipe) with 53 being the skillcap for the most common, fire crystal+ore x4. True, its not that common of an occurence, but it does happen and the subcraft's skill level isn't ALWAYS dictated by the materials used, even if said materials are a skill below 60. Just some minor information- I'm sure there's more synths out there like this.
