    'Overclocking' Modem Bandwidth

Is there a program out there that you can overclock your modem with?
In other words, a program that will take the bandwidth restriction off your modem.
I'm aware of the trouble I can get in with Comcast, but, I don't really care.

    Any suggestions?

You don't uncap your modem, you 'uncap' the box outside your residence.

    They will find out.

    They will get you.

    Don't do it.

It's still possible to uncap your bandwidth restrictions on most Cable/DSL systems, however it's also highly apparent to ISPs when someone has done so. And when you're caught you get around 10 years in prison. Which puts it safely into the Very Bad Idea™ category.

If you need free bandwidth so badly, get a laptop and sit in a Starbucks.

dsl not so much, as the technology it self caps at 8/1 and degrades as you get further from the CO, so maybe if you were right next to the CO you could do 8/1

I don't really need free bandwidth, I just want to speed up my modem. I just have heard things about people taking off the limit you can send/recieve and getting called by their ISPs and getting shut down, thats what I'm wondering about.

You CAN do it but it's not a "you might get caught" type thing, it's a "you WILL get caught by the end of the day" type thing.

So if you're going to do it, download as much as you can.
