[FFXI] In-game menus faded out

Sorry, posted this in another section that doesn't seem to get any traffic.

I just started playing again, I have gotten a new computer since I last played - no matter how much I tinker with settings I can't fix this, and can't find anyone else that has had the problem either. Basically the ingame menus are all faded and unreadable.

Setup:

Windows XP Home
nVidia 8800 GTS
21 inch Widescreen ViewSonic LCD

Corrupt .dats? Try to do a file scan from POL viewer, failing that install Brandsons dats and see if that fixes it. Actually do a file check and then install Brandsons dats anyways as they are made of sex and win.

Many many people were having problems with the 8800 I believe. I have no idea if there have been drivers to correct the problem yet. I personally don;t have the card so I don;t know how to fix it, but a quick google of 8800 and ffxi will bring some stuff up. Maybe someone has found a tweak or hotfix by now.

Basically I'm just posting to say you aren't the only one with this problem. There are others.

XP has no problems with 8800, update your drivers ( http://www.nvidia.com ) and you wont have any more problems

Updating drivers to 100.87 or higher fixed it, this is the only problem new drivers fix with the 8800 though, sounds like People with SLI or running Vista + 8800 are screwed still.

I run Vista Ultimate with 8800 GTS and have had no problems besides some older games not running on Vista or in compatibility mode.

Actually, I had a similar problem with a friend's computer, same card even.

Update your drivers. It'll fix the problem.
