Dancer sub prediction time!

It's about that time. Time for pointless speculation! Despite not knowing anything about the Dancer job, other than it attacks with dances, some of which that can charm enemies, and wields a dagger... let's predict what sub will be the most common one for Dancer.

I'm trying to find specific quotes to back me up, but I recall descriptions from TGS and such saying that they attacked with a dagger, had offensive dances, and could charm the enemy. So far, no official description has said they can buff the party or debuff the enemy.

We'll see when I find the quote about charming enemies and all that...

While you're right, it doesn't rule out a support role, it's just that so far there has been no indication that it might even be remotely considered a support job.

All notions of it being support have been speculation by people, rather than hinted at in official announcements or interviews.

Granted, this is speculation, too, so it could go either way. I just challenge one of you to find an interview or announcement hinting that they have support abilities.

Plus, I'm interested to see what the 2nd job is, that they're revealing at the Osaka event.

EDIT: Also, just remembered, Dancer has never been a support job in past FFs, either. They've never debuffed or buffed.

Well, keep an eye out for the fan event in Osaka, where they said they'd let people play Dancer and also reveal the other job. For those that miss it in Osaka, they'll do it again in Anaheim. But I'm sure someone will report on it, and Elmer will translate it asap!

I'll less concerned about what to sub on Dancer, as much as I am concerned for the ability to sub Dancer on my DRK and be able to jump and dance around.

No it hasn't. The only instance I can think of where it did was Tactics, but that's a completely different series and game.

Dancer in FF5, for example, was a pure DD. In FF6, Mog was a Geomancer with the command name "Dance", but even if you consider him a Dancer, even he didn't buff/debuff. Certain of his moves healed, but that's about it.

I'm hoping it'll be a hardcore heavy DD such that a well-geared Dancer will be on par with well-geared WARs and SAMs.

It's been awhile since we've had a new pure heavy DD job made to put out big numbers.

If you don't count the moogle(and I don't), there has been two: One is 5 and one in Tactics. The one in 5 was random(out of 4 dances), one was Sword Dance(a buff) and another was Temptango(a debuff). Tactics was all about debuffing. The most consistent trait would be a direct damage HP or MP dance.

Sword Dance was a 4x hit attack, it wasn't a buff. The one you called a debuff probably corresponds to the charming ability of the FFXI Dancer.

Tactics doesn't matter because SE has never used Tactics ideas in any of their FF main series games until FF12, where it just used the name "Ivalice" and that's it. I doubt they'll start now.
