Don't train any learning skills to Lv5 nigra. ._.

Edit: Now that I've read the entire post, lawl. I dunno if its 8 or 12, but I know that Carrier ships can carry more than 5. Haven't done any research on them though since I'm not too interested in getting a ship I'll never get to leave.

Drone velocity, I dunno. He was probably talking about the MWD speed they have when they approach a target, and not orbiting speed, which is probably what you were looking at.

To make your Cruiser go faster, pop on an Afterburner. Make sure you have the skills in Navigation trained up to use them though. For missions you can only use Afterburners. In open space for PvP and whatever, you can use Microwarpdrives, which make you go waaaaaaaaaaay faster than Afterburners.

About sentry drones, no clue honestly. I'm new to Gallente myself, but I know they have a max range of 80km-100km or something like that, when you have the proper skills and drone upgrades equipped on your ship. I'd go for T2 drones before you go for Sentries. Scout Drone Operation V and Drones V is all you need I think. You might need the "Gallente drone specialization" skill up to a certain amount too, not sure honestly.

But.. yeah, I'm going for T2 drones before I go for the Sentry/EWAR drones myself. D:

T2 Drones? Is that Tier 2 as in the II after the names of the drones? Are they really better than the 80km+ range a sentry offers though? Thanks for the tips, ya after reading up on learning skills, even this guy on the eve forums with like 350+ skills trained says he doesn't have learning skills to 5 simply because it takes years to get the investment back. So I think since all my basic learning skills are at 4 and I can't afford the higher level learning skills I'll just start learning skills to optimize my Vexor into a nice Drone ship and hopefully start on some L2 or L3 missions.

Reading some guides and the pirate implants seem really sexy. Should I try and buy a set of low grade versions for the +33% bonus to Armor or Velocity? That might be nice...or would the +4 or +5 implants be better, or can I not even afford those yet? I remember seeing some implants going for like 160mil iirc so I think maybe I can't afford the best implants atm.

    Re: EVE Online

You're going a little too fast. I've been playing since August or something and I don't even have +4 implants yet. +3 work just fine, and help speeding up skill training speeds with your learning skills trained up to 4/3.

And yar, T2 drones are sexy. I have no experience with Sentry drones, so I don't know how much better they are compared to T2 Light/Med drones.

When you start making a decent amount of ISK an hour doing missions or ratting or whatever, and you get like.. 4M+SP or something, then maybe you could start investing in the expensive crap. But shoving one billion ISK worth of implants in your character with such low SP is a bad investment as far as I'm concerned. If your corp goes to war or you run into a pirate while exploring low-sec and you get podded (ship gets blown up, then they blow up your pod) you lose all your implants.

All I'd do is work on getting your skills up to a level where you can equip most T2 modules on your ship and run missions like a motherfucker until you can get a high-quality Lv3/4 agent. Find a nice corp to join, hopefully they'll have a corp hangar with ammo in it to save you even more money, and just master the basics of the game before you go off to bigger and better things.

    Just my opinion though.

Ya I figured I was moving too fast. It's so tempting to progress more quickly though because the only thing holding me back is ISK. In theory it would be best to get all the implants and shit and learning skills to 4 before doing anything else because otherwise I'm wasting time/money. Oh well, I need to get over it and just focus on trying to get better missions.

    Re: EVE Online

Learning lvl 5 is a must, but I would recommend getting the basic learning skills to lvl 5 then the additional ones to atleast lvl 3, it helps out in the long run when you start to train the really long skills that are somewhat essential (Ie. Advanced Weapon Upgrades, Racially Battleship to lvl 5 if your thinking of flying a capital)

Our alliance is probably really weak too since I get emails alot talking about how they need someone to train Bombers or whatever. Let me know if you can hook me up with someone to talk to about joining.
Stealth Bombers are nice, however they require a lot of skill and attention otherwise you'll be losing a lot of ships and those shiny covert-op cloaks, and if your alliance is asking for bomber pilots just for the bombs, they need a slap as using them is pratically suicide.

As for the carriers, the entry level carrier can use upto 10 drones at the same time (Thats with Drones + Carrier lvl 5 and without any Drone Control Units), the "mothership" carrier can use upto 20 (Again, Drones + Carrier lvl 5 without any Drone Control Units), the very most is 26, thats a mothership carrier with drones and carrier lvl 5 and 6 Drone Control Units filling the high slots

IMO, Sentry Drones are only worth it if your going to be camping a gate or if your a carrier fighting in a mid/long range fleet battle. I would say the T2 Drones are better, they only require Drones lvl 1, Scout Drone Operation lvl 5 and the Racial Drone Specialisation lvl 2, although getting Drone Sharpshooting/Navigation/Interfacing/Yada Yada Yada is recommended.

Implants are nice, but if your heavily into PvP or a war, think twice about fitting them in. You can get +4's for around 20-30 mil (Although the Charisma ones are usually lower cause not many people use them). One thing you can do is to fit a jump clone with implants and clone jump into that clone whenever your not going to be actively PvP'n for a while, however you need to be careful with this option as many people have lost there implants by doing that (I think its a bug whenever you clone jump to a jump clone in the same station)

The #1 rule in PVP'n in EVE is only fly what you can afford to lose, dont blow your entire budget fitting a cruiser with the top of the range T2 equip if you've then gotta spend days to make up your loss when that ship gets destroyed.

Bingo. The above is THE rule of EVE. Simple as that. "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." People quit when they get popped in a ship they spent all their money on and didn't insure.

    Re: EVE Online

I wouldn't do the rank 1 attribute boosts to V right away.

eventually it's cheaper skillpoint wise to do the rank 3 attribute boosts to I and II (I think the change over is after IV but I can't really remember)

I wouldn't do learning V right away unless you're sure you'll be playing for at least 6 months. you don't make the skill time back up until the ~140 day mark after getting learning V over learning IV.

*eventually* you want the basic attributes at IV the advanced at II/III and learning at IV 100%. going to V in the whole category can be worth doing but only if you're definitely playing for the very long haul.

it's more important to keep expanding your relevant skills so you don't get bored in your t1 frig with your civilian kit honestly; we're talking months of training to do the learning skills here.

    Re: EVE Online

sentry drones are niiiiice for missions before you get ogre IIs ( me want ;; ). Snipe a lot of ships before they can even get close to you... fairly good tactic if you're not too concerned with salvaging stuff. I would snipe all the frigates that are 70-80km out with the caldari sentries and they'd pretty much instapop.

downside of sentries, is that when the target gets prolly within 30km their damage drops off considerably.

You won't be able to put many in a vexor tho, so I'd put that on hold for a while. Hamerhead II drones are amazing in terms of damage, and can take down even a battleship in respectable time. You need drone specialization up to level II, drones 5, scout drones 5 to use 'em. That will also unlock tech II light drones at the same time. to get the tech II heavy drones, heavy drone operation V and drone spec up to IV.

Train your navigation skills up if you hate the slow speeds. Its worth it Especially in pvp, where speed can get you out of some situations.

those special set implants I'd get only if you were one rich mofo and didn't mind losing them. It does hurt your pocketbook to replace things when you get podded lost a full set of +4s the other day due to this.

Funny story went out with a roaming gang with my alliance just to pester some of the neighbors. Found a ratting domi in a system and we took it out fairly quickly. We high tailed it out of there in search of a new target, ended up getting a flycatcher after about 5 mins. What we didn't know, that flycatcher might just have been bait >.> couple seconds after it popped, vent went crazy. "New red in system. another. anoth.... fuck, get the hell out of here RUN"

I almost got back home, but when trying to rush through them after a jump, a fast locking frigate got me scrammed before my vexor could warp off -.-

    Re: EVE Online

Haha ya PvP sounds like alot of fun and I can't wait to do it. So Ogre II and Hammerhead II are my best bets? How can I tell how good their damage is before buying them. I always see Damage Modifier but it doesn't vary much ship to ship, but based on the prices I'd assume they vary in more ways than simply a small amount of orbiting speed, damage modifiers and shield/armor capacity.

I do not like how damage type doesn't go up though, only like max velocty and shield/armor and such go up, the rest remain largely unchanged compared to their "NQ" counterparts. I think I am going to stick with the regular Light Scout Drones for awhile though, simply because they're fast orbiters and with my vexor+drone interfacing ranks at ~4 soon they will be doing like 2.52 more damage.

30-40k players online at any one time.

I thought it was roughly 200-250k total?

subscription numbers since trinity are hovering around the 250k mark +/- some increment. they have about 20k trials active at any one time right now. (so interest is high but it's not clear how many are staying)

the size of the player base has increased significantly within the last two years (I don't have numbers for 2 years ago since I wasn't playing it then so I didn't keep track).
