Lawl, that's it in a nutshell I guess. Depends on how you play the game though. You can just go and mine (boring), work for a military station doing stupid missions (boring), or go into enemy territory and totally ransack wrecked ships for loot. Then destroy all their landing pads and satellites just because you can (fun!).

    :3

I suppose I like the game a lot just because it's amazing to look at. Probably the best looking MMO out there. >_>
I used to think that too... until I realized it was just a handful of object floating around in big nothing with a cool space background. :D
Easy to have cool looking ships when you don't have to use the processing power to render landscapes or pretty much anything else.

    Re: EVE Online

I'll give the game another shot tomorrow. I want to try and make a more battle-oriented character, but I'm about 18 hours into a skill on the character I have now. Since the game only let's you train one skill per account, I'm a little handcuffed on trying something new.

EDIT: Even if it's just a nice looking ship and a fancy 2D background, the game does look fantastic. I think the interface is well done, and the jukebox option let's me skip some of the more boring tracks in the overall solid soundtrack.

Wow....that 16000 dollar heist sounds illegal at first but the game company allows it? Weird.

Uh, yeah. It's part of the game... besides, it's 30 billion ISK, it's not like it was real money, that's just with IGEs bullshit prices (no, I've never bought game currency, the bullshit refers to the fact that they pay like 10% of the price of the currency to the people who actually acquire it, the heinous villains known as gold farmers).

Friends used to play it but i didn't pick it up due to other games.
Just started and it's quite fun, building a battle orientated ship, just bought the best frigate for Caldari and sticking to missions.

It's no different than stealing a LS bank in FFXI. Is it a dick immoral thing to do? Sure. Is it against the ToS/illegal? No.

The way the skill system is, no newer player will measure up to a player who's been skilling for years. However, I've found that newer players have a lesser (but still important) role in group PvP. I'm training to be a "tackler" as it's called in the game, a pilot who jumps in close to bigger ships (preferably under their gun accuracy falloff so you dont get shredded) and uses a web (slows their max speed by about 90%) and warp disruptors (so they can't jump away). This allows bigger ships to come in and destroy the target. If you die, you only lose a cheap frigate or cruiser, while you helped take down a multi-hundred-million-ISK battleship or the like. It seems to be a nice starting point to be a decent PvP corp while training skills for bigger ships yet remaining useful in group PvP ops.

Now I just need to find a corp D:

Fuck, all this talk about EVE has made me want to give it a try again.
Now that I'm MMORPG-less again (my interest in LOTRO died even faster than it did in EQ2 >_<).

    Re: EVE Online

TIME FOR A BG FORUM CORPORATION OKAY?

I'm not learning the ability to make a Corporation though. Few more days learning skills and I can get into a Battlecruiser or an Assault Ship. :>

    Edit:
Over the weekend, Mercenary Coalition lost their Titan in action around the Deep Catch area. This is a large blow to the effort being given to take the Catch western front. But as someone in the Eve-O forums so eloquently put it, "Ya gotta use em, to loose em". Kudos should be given to MC for putting their Titan right on the front lines.

Rumors from sources inside BoB speculate that the loss of the MC Titan has prompted BoB to abandon the defense of Feyth and redirect all of their efforts into crushing IAC and capturing Catch. The FAT system has become somewhat of a meat grinder for all sides involved and no one can take that kind of beating for very long. With a concerted effort from BoB and MC it is inevitable that Deep Catch will fall.

These same sources have also indicated that some of the "BoB Pet" corporations have begun not paying their dues and that ISK is becoming hard to come by. Again, these claims are unsubstantiated but do come from a reliable source inside BoB.
EVE Raids > FFXI Raids, lawl.

EVE Raids are serious business too.

Hulk miner here, great game... nice change of pace. I've been playing for about 4 months. People who like Microsoft Excel will love this game ;-P

I'd be all about a BG corp.

I played, quit. Got repetitive after 2-3 months. Quit with 3milish sp or so? I play in spurts when I feel like I want to train some more skills for a month.

    Re: EVE Online

Just finished Cruiser Lv3, going for that Drake battlecruiser thing I guess. Dunno where I want to 'settle' down, I have a hard-on for any ship with a shitload of missile turrets since I find the gun turrets kind of boring.

    Re: EVE Online

I played for a while. Caldari. Had around 8mil SP when I stopped playing, a bit of money. Used the newer missle Battlecruiser, but my skills set torwards the lolRaven (it's so fun to pop) because of my cruise/torps training. My missile operation skills though were out the wazoo.

    Re: EVE Online

Caldari are a missile 'race' from what I've read on EVE Forums, so that's basically all I'm skilling up. Because of the race/clan/whatever I chose in the beginning most of my stuff is already close to cap, so the stuff I do need to train takes days (one of 'em is fucking 12 days or something). Going for a Drake right now I think, it's 5/5 Missile/Gun turret and etc etc.

lolTitan? I wonder how long that would take.

Lots of time. On the skills I had to train to make my missile BC better (and onward to a BS), the bulk of my skills took no less than 1-2 days. I think Battlecruiser to 5 took me around 20+ days.. I'm not sure. I started it when I quit my account this last time. I've done that a few times. Good way to get a level 5 skill xD

But yeah. Amarr are the turret/lasers, Caldari are the missiles. Missile cruisers are fun for missions for sure. I said lolRaven though because in PVP, anyone with a Raven generally gets popped pretty easy unlike other battleships of that nature. They are so fucking ugly too D:

Amarrian and Minmatar Ship specialist here. Minmatar are fucking hardcore, they use everything from missiles, shields, armor to duct tape and prayers.

Anywhoo, my roommate just did a 20min fleet battle and kicked the living shit out of -V- and friends. As a Molden Heath resident, this makes me very happy. Less -V-, more goons. Goons are fun happy time kills.

Titan Training takes about 147 days from a new char last I checked. Modules *not* included.

BGcorp... ehhh I love my corp too much.

Check your wallet and journal >_<

My Gallante Frigate IV was scheduled to end just after the end of normal maintenance tomorrow. Of course, tomorrow has to be extended maint. so I get to wait another day to crack open the Cruiser book ;_; Guess I'll chip a day off Learning V instead.
