3000+ ships? holy hell...
3000+ ships? holy hell...
2200+ here, 2000 test and friends on the way
They reinforced the node using Jita's node, uncapped. No tidi
Proudly plugging this but also puts the TIDI in perspective. The first shot of this battle fired was my bomb landing on a sabre on grid "15min ago" but its technically been nearly 2hrs
Holy crap.
What. The. Fuck.
Truly epic, that is all. CCP confirmed, biggest battle in Eve's history. With 4060 pilots on field. Estimated losses are upwards to 2900 ships.
The deciding factor was 2 things. Who got there first, and the fact that we found out later the field was actually capped for only 4000 players...
Goons were there first, so they got the bulk of warm bodies. They had over 2200 in first, we made up the rest, and could not get anyone else in.
My wife was playing Logi, her fleet started with 250 and only 70 survived (which was good). I was in a black ops fleet of 70 bombers. We ended with 40 and only got off a couple of bombing runs. We primarily focused on disconnected Megathrons. I ended up with 20+ megathron kills and 4 Lokis. We would have had a Nidhogur... but @ 5% structure it was saved by a cyno archon group.
Thats it for Foutain, Goons will take it. All well...
Then holy shit @ this as the night ends....

That was a lot of isk
So is it possible to catch up to people end game? Or would i be stuck behind multi-year players forever? Started reading the 400 page guide pdf to get an idea tempted to give the trial a go.
If possible how long it is to catch up how long does it generally take?
You can't quite "catch up" based on total SP. The only thing for that is time, and it's already passed.
But skills cap out at level 5, and given some time (I can't quote you an amount), you CAN (and in the very long run, will) reach total numerical competency for a combat role.
At that point, the elder players SP advantage becomes not superiority, but versatility.
Though at the moment, for very high SP players, the cost of replacing up to date clones compared to using smaller more popable ships is high.
The more SP you have, regardless of ship, the more expensive it becomes to die. Some really dedicated combat pilots even freeze their SP gains by shifting the passive SP to an alt.
It's never too late.
It's easier to do interesting things if you have a crew to roll with. You can be involved in big combat pretty quickly if you spec for tackling to lock down targets for the older (not even really old, just a few months older) players to get their damage in. After a while tackling you'll have timed in enough SP to be useful in more traditional shooting things. From there you just get beefier and beefier.
But that's JUST mechanics.
There's meta stuff you can do that isn't strictly mechanical capability. You could try your hand at being a small gang combat commander, that takes real human ability to do.
You could play the spy/espionage game, in which your character doesn't even matter, it'll generally be burned when you execute your devious scheme.
And that's JUST in your face PVP, there's way more to do in EVE than that.

Sounds good, will try the 14 days trial.
Thanks!
