Timelines - The Kingdom of San d'Oria

    Readme:

This is a time line of the history of Vana'diel. Many of the people, places and events within are not given an official English translation. If you recognize any incorrect spellings for people, place names, events, or the like, please post and let me know. I tried to track down as many as I could, but there still may be many more references I missed. The ones with no official spelling to be found I estimated as best I could, but I guarantee they are all wrong. 8)

**Any guesswork is written in italics!**

Now where are some of these references hidden?

For example, a Taru recently added to the game to promote Wings of the Goddess mentions Fort Karugo-Narugo. An Ordelle Bronzepiece reveals the spelling of Fainevlure Ordelle. Stuff like that.

This discovery quickly led to the appearance of mounted knights in the Elvaan army. This not only gave them more power against the forces of Windurst, but was instrumental in the developed of modern day jobs, like the Paladin and Dark Knight.

Until then, Chocobo were simply livestock used to pull carts and plows, and could be ridden bareback. However, Wellpard’s inventions of reins allowed a whole new degree of control when riding, making this a historic event. (Though uses have diminished somewhat in the present era with the availability of Linkshells).

In addition, he brought about a new riding seat called a “saddle,” which allows people to travel long distances on a Chocobo. Building upon that idea, he also developed a special harness he could attach to himself so he could take TaruTaru guests on sightseeing tours.

    The Three Month Monarchy
With his victory at the Battle of the Two Kings, Ranperre was able to settle the domestic conflict beset upon his nation, at least for the time being. Unfortunately, the grudge between the parties would manifest itself for years to come. In 816, the remnants of Gjohnberre’s forces established a new nation in Norvallen as an act of rebellion.

This act weighed heavily on King Ranperre. He had no idea what forces they had amassed, and knew the day would come when they would besiege the castle. Still, he couldn’t simply lead the Temple Knights to go deal with them and abandon the capital, leaving it defenseless.

Considering this, the King decided to gather the Royal Knights under Erpalacion and the White Mage Volledyne of the Temple Knights. With a fighting force of 3,000 strong, he sent them forth on a mission.

The rivalry those two share is no secret, but neither is their exceptional prowess on the battlefield. Within just three months, they toppled the enemy castle, captured Prince ??????Naphberre’s forces, and quelled the impending rebellion.

However, during the journey home, Erpalacion suddenly vanished from camp, causing a huge uproar. Volledyne, in an attempt to protect the reputation of the Temple Knights, organized a large-scale investigation. Eventually, with no trace of Erpalacion’s whereabouts and no reason found for his disappearance, there was no choice but to report to the King that an assassination had taken place. Didn't read the whole thing yet, but thank you for all the hard work on these posts.

Edit: Something I don't understand. It says in 782 Ranperre earns his title, but then it says he gained it for defeating Vrtra in 830. Which is it?

The Elvaan migrate from the Northern lands to the Quon continent
Wow, this one surprised me. Thought they were from around Ronfaure forever. Guess it kinda explains why Elvaan are the second most widespread race (since it's easy to travel from the north anywhere (sans south) than it is to travel from say, the west) and why Ephramad had a lot of Elvaan (it was up north). Were the Orcs and Elvaan rivals before the Orcs travelled to Quon?

    Almost forgot: Thanks!

Bolded parts are Us! I assume, anyway.

    Hydra rank badges for everyone!

Lends some credence to my Pime Taradox theory that the low relic drop rates come from us only bringing so much relic back with us, and leaving a small amount behind when we died.

So bring all those Pld's with AF2 to Xarc plz!

The souls of the members of the Hydra Corps are trapped in dynamis. Adventurers never die, only get KO'd. Therefore, there's no way we can take the role of the Hydra Corps unless there are a ton of NPC members as well.

My mistake, I think. He ascends to the throne in 782, but isn't the DRAGONking until 830. They referred to him as the Dragonking in 782 though, sort of like saying "President Bush was born in 19xx" even though he wasn't President when he was born. Anyway, fixed that for clarity.

This is something interesting you'll notice once the other time lines are up. There are little discrepancies between the events sometimes. Sand'Oria claims to have subjugated various thief encampments. But in the Bastok time line, it's like "wtf Sand'Oria attacked our miners."

You can see Sand'Oria had no respect for the Hume/Galka from the get go, like in 458 when they just said gtfo our city. They're into royalty, fashion and holiness, while Bastokans are down and dirty workers.

I still say my favorite part is

644 – In an attempt to repair the royal family’s impending financial crisis, Prime Minister ????Romovia institutes a plan for economic reform.

647Romovia cuts down on area allocated for the Church.

    651Romovia is assassinated.

Some Members Died, Tons of NPCs, Not a ton is known about them except they were ultra-elite and kind of spontaneously appeared, yeah... doesn't sound so unlikely at all.

The fact that it says they disappear, not just die, is kind of an interesting tell.

Your average historian doesn't know about dynamis, and thus doesn't know that the Hydra Corps died there. From the perspective of most npcs in game the Hydra Corps would've disappeared even though we know what happened to them.

edit: Also, they didn't spontaneously appear. They were recruited by the Allied Forces of Altana.

Thanks for the explanation, Elmer. Makes sense now.

Wasn't that explained though? There was a Vana'diel Tribune I think with an account from the Hydra Corps. They got lost in Beaucedine Glacier and were consumed by the darkness or something crazy.

    Found it

Re: Timelines - The Kingdom of San d'Oria

Yeah, the Tribune is just a view of Historian's though isn't it?

The letter is just one recounting from one Hydra.

I still say that the Hydra Corp being gathered as a Multi-National group of Elite Fighters as the Crystal War really heats up kind of points at us being involved in its formation, as we're a multi-national group of elite fighters about to go back in time to when the Crystal War really heats up.

Most of the Hydras died/wound up in Dynamis, what about the ones that didn't, noone made it back, not one single solitary soul?

Or perhaps the ones that were on their way back got warped back to their own time.

All speculation, but it seems to me anyway to be a pretty neat spot to slide us into the storyline, as opposed to just some random no name fighters who didn't really get any notice.

Looking at it after a certain CS and having that "Ah ha! so WE were the Hydra Corps!" would kick ass.
