Account Lost and Recovered

I am only posting this as a heads up to what may be happening around other servers.

Tonight, I found out that my mule account password was changed to something other than what it was supposed to be.

I called POL to get my password reset but I had left my codes in America, I did not bring them when I moved to Japan.
After getting my codes from a family member, I got POL to reset my password during the maintenance period...

After logging into my mule account, I had found that my account was shifted to HADES in the course of a day.

Timeline of events:

9/23/07 5:20 PM - I logged in to Cancel Content ID
9/24/07 06:13 AM - World Transfer Requested (Noted in the email)
9/24/07 10:14 PM - World Transfer Done (Email from POL)
9/25/07 03:02 AM - Someone Logs into account
9/26/07 03:45 AM - I regain control of the account.

When I did get logged in, I found each of my mules standing at a NPC or delivery box dude. When I clicked on the Delivery NPC, I saw Gil being sent somewhere, but I could not read the name fast enough to see who it was going to. My guess is that they NPC'd everything EXCEPT one of my mules had a mog locker and the lease had expired... so they did not get about 4m worth of Dynamis Currency, V.Cloak and a bunch of other gear I stored in there. The rest of the mules, I had in each city for various storage/crafting reasons for my mains.

I still cannot figure out how they did this since I have been using the mule account on Xbox since I moved to Tokyo... The password was strong, so I am really at a loss to figure out what happened. I am 99% sure it was RMT who got the account, since they NPC'd everything.... I had a few mules that had max mog safe and gobbie bags (before the days of mog locker), so I doubt they could have just transfered ALL of that gear to other mules that quickly. Since my mules were standing at NPC's --- I figure that is what they did.

One one mule, so far I see on FFXI-AH that they sold two of my Noble's Beds on the AH (Angeliceus). Stil checking the rest...

Overall, I lost about 8-9m of Gil and Items. The work I put into building this mule network was worth getting back over the items, however just a heads up.

A few other people have reported that someone was trying to log into their account while they were online and I know of one other account that is MIA just as mine was. The funny thing is, I have 4-5 other accounts that I have gotten from people that quit over time, I have since changed their passwords and made sure that they were fairly tight. But, these guys either didnt see them or just didnt bother... all of those accounts are probably worth a load more gil than my pidly mules.

Anyway, SE of course couldnt tell me any more than what I already knew... My mules are stuck on Hades for 90 days and I paid $25.00 basically to get ripped. :D

Moral of the story, once again... strong passwords and don't give your shit out. (Only 1 person had this POL ID in the 4 years I have had this mule account, and that was over a year ago with a different password.)

Gonna take a break from the game for awhile, I guess.

For the record, I dropped my pearl within an hour after everything happened, before I had even consulted anyone inside the shell. I then sent a PM to the leader asking if I should drop my pearl, even though I already had.

I just got word, that our shellholder "Sarahlynn" lost her account, it was renamed to "Taja" on the Leviathan server.

She said that her character was wearing a pearl for a HNMLS called "Radiance".

This is some fucked up shit going on.

I am currently on hold on POL.

As of now I am unable to log into my account and my name has apparently been grayed out on the community website.

I would just like to comment on the utter lowness of such an act.

If it is in relation to Divisortheory/Kalia then I will refer them to the above posts. But words can not express the level of anger and outrage I currently have for the filth that did this.

The only things missing from Sarah (Taja) is gil, Hauby+1 and a PCC.

I do not use any parsing software and have only ever used windower.

The only other sacks who have ever had my account info are a couple of the same who have had their accounts hacked.

If you are trying to sling mud at Divisor, he has never had access to my account information.

Some of them had given their info out to other members in the shell. The OP however, had not. Furthermore, he was on Xbox 360 and had never even logged that account in from a PC at all. The POL password was different than every other password in existance, was not in his email account (nor were reg codes), and was not sent in any PMs to anyone.

Your comment about DvsParse was obviously a joke, but regardless I will refer you to the (now removed) source code in case anyone else has any doubts.

Seeing this kinda crap makes me want to create a GUID for a password with random characters thrown in, even though I already have a strong password.

Something like:

782#F77$74CB334d^2986C2`6901B5-85B+DC!!6

That would prolly take a while to crack.

Unless the person who got my account actually threw away things like my Aegis I have very little actually items capable of being sold, and am almost piss poor since finishing Aegis, so I don't have much liquid wealth by any means.

However what upsets me more is at best it seems like I can now not play on my server for 90 days, judging on the results Aang has had, in addition I am the leader of a Dynamis shell so being unable to log in to that will impact a large amount of people as well. And aside from the logistic concerns the obvious outrage.
